I had my surgery on JUly 3rd. No complications at all. I've lost 15 lbs so far and have been stuck for a few days at that loss. I am so afraid I am not going to lose anymore. Prayers to all who are beginning this journey.

Hi, @Faith23, I'm going to give you some tough love. STOP WEIGHING YOURSELF EVERY DAY. Everyone's weight fluctuates up and down from day to day and throughout a day, due to so many things especially Water weight. You should weigh at most once a week. It's ridiculous at this stage to worry you won't lose more weight. This journey takes MONTHS, not days. You have to think long term or you'll worry yourself too much. You're brave for having the surgery! Stay brave and stay strong!

LibrarianErin, I’m glad they know about it and you know what signs to look for. Tea sounds lovely! I have some fresh mint in my garden and now I might make some yummy, summery meadow tea.

how has moving been going for you? I can relate to the short grocery trip. I took my son to an outlet center yesterday . I walked really slow and had to stop and sit after every store because I was having so much pain. It was a big mistake! Today I am just taking it easy.

@RedE2goAimee, sorry to hear you were in pain, but glad you can take it easy today. I haven't had pain with walking, but discomfort, tiredness, and sweating. I find 30 minutes is my absolute limit, and then I feel really tired the rest of the day. What works better for me is 5-15 minutes leisurely walking around my house or maybe up and down the block outside. Those small bursts of activity every hour or so are much less tiring then one long trek. I know I'm privileged in being able to take leave from work and have it easy not having a family to take care of, so I'm grateful to be able to focus on myself and not stress about resting.

I also seem to do better with short walks in my neighborhood. I guess I just pushed it too far yesterday. Lesson learned!

I have a family, but they are very supportive and helpful. My kids are also older and self-sufficient, which is huge! I took a month off from work, which was a good choice for me. I can't imagine juggling work with figuring out my new body.

Good Morning! I'm new here. I had my gastric sleeve surgery on July 26. I'm having pains mostly on my right side, but nothing I can't push through. Still have occasional pain in my left shoulder but I think its getting better. I'm waking a total of 30 minutes a day, but broken up. I'm doing well getting my Water down but the Protein Shakes are hard. I'm ready for total healing to be complete. Thank you for letting me share.

Hello, I just joined!

My surgery was July 27th! The first night I was in a ton of pain, but it's getting better every day. I'm trying to walk a lot but I get very dizzy after around ten minutes. I've been drinking all my Protein Shakes, but I'm struggling with my Water. I feel like I'm constantly drinking and still not getting enough!

Hi All. Surgery went well on the 17th and I’m returning to work this Wednesday. My biggest struggle is eating, I don’t eat much at all as I am also afraid of not recognizing when I’m full. A friend who did the surgery last year had complications and couldn’t keep anything down, so think it’s playing with my psyche. I started the puréed phase yesterday and am trying to follow guidelines as closely as possible. I think I still eat too fast but not much to chew at the moment given my food is puréed. Pain wise I’m now ok and getting in daily walks. I’m 9kg (19.8lbs) down since surgery but think it’s coz I’m under eating which isn’t good. Going to need my energy at work. All tips welcome.

Hi there,

I just found this site after googling because I haven't been feeling very good and haven't been losing weight. My sleeve was 7/20. I had to go to the hospital the day after for uncontrolled vomiting and dehydration. Since then I've been struggling with nausea. I'm hungry but if I eat anything that seems to control the hunger, I have dumping syndrome- pain, nausea, spasms, feel terrible.

I know the first week, I gained weight from all of the fluids and that has come back down, but I haven't lost any more. I'm worried that I made a mistake.

Hello dear

I'm so sorry your having a few complications

have you spoken with your Dr. And nurse so they can advise you on how to proceed. Did you have GERD before your surgery?

Thank you for your kindness!

I didn't have much GERD, but they did do a hiatal hernia repair that I didn't know I had. My dietician said it can take a few weeks to see weight loss, but it's frustrating when I lost 15 lb before surgery and nothing now with barely eating.

That's a good suggestion.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
