I'm a newbie and need some info...

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone...I was banded on 12/4 and have no regrets, just a mountain of questions. I have just finished my second week (full diet) and have not been hungry. I drink 2 Protein Shakes a day and drink about 60 oz. of Water. I have not even wanted crystal light. I probably ate 4 oz of cream Soup a handful of times just because.

Okay, so I was terrified of starting the mushies. Afraid of food. I started with mashed potatoes and did fine. Although, I am still not hungry or even craving food. It seems that I am pretty happy with water and Protein. I had lost 18 lbs pre surgery and have lost 8 more lbs since. I wonder if it is too much too soon? Any opinions? I'm a little nervous, So here goes...

1. has anyone else felt like this? not being hungry?

2. I burp a lot...a lot. I think it's that I may be drinking too fast, not sure. anyone?

3. I have some challenges in the bathroom arena...I have only gone twice since I've been home. I am hydrated and walk a lot. I am not uncomfortable though. I have taken Malox...but nope. anyone else?

4. I still feel like I have an anxiety toward food. I have been extremely disciplined in following the doctors schedule for introducing full, then mushie textures and although mashed potatoes went down well, I'm nervous about trying anything else.

5. Oh yeah, don't mean to sound dumb, but what is PB? Beuhller?

Please help, I need your experience.:help:

Thanks Chris

well you wont go alot with just liquids. its ok to feel that your not hungry just introduce your foods slowly if you able to get mash pototoes down with no problems you should be fine with other mushie foods. just make sure you are still drinkin your protien shakes until you feel your ready to eat foods. if you dont feel hungry later on down the road i would call your doctor. pb i think is puking it back up i am not sure im a little new here lol

Hi, Chris, and congratulations!

I was also not hungry in the beginning and I'm still not really hungry. I was also worried about eating mushies and soft food but it just made me eat slowly and chew a lot, just like we're supposed to. I've never had any trouble so I've probably gotten a little careless and will need to keep that in mind after my next fill.

There's not a lot going into you right now so it's not surprising that your digestive system isn't the same as before but it should return to normal, especially as you ease into mushies.

Your life will start feeling more normal again very soon. Keep up the good work! ;)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
