Your body is in shock. don't worry about it and stay on track.

Also, I would only weigh yourself once a week... daily is not a good idea.

you've probably hit the infamous "three week stall" (most people have this early stall. It's usually the third week after surgery, hence the name, but it can happen any time within the first six weeks or so). Mine was weeks 2 and 3. Just stick to your plan, stay off the scale, and know that it'll break and you'll be on your way again. No need to do anything different.

You are still healing, you're most likley still dealing with swelling & your body will hold onto Water at random times. This is very normal & I suggest lowering your expectations a bit because you will not be losing daily forever! Just stick to your plan & you WILL lose!

Stay off the scale. I haven't weighed myself since coming home from the hospital. Why? Because I don't want the scale dictating my moods. I know there will be stalls and Water retention and worries if I'm doing something wrong or if the surgery is working.

I will start weighing myself after my 5 week appointment once a week. I start regular food phase then and won't go back to doctor till my 3 month mark. I'm hoping by then I will get to experience seeing some mind blowing weight drops.

If not, that's OK. Patience is a virtue. 👼

Hi ! I am 8days post op VSG and i started to stall too. I do weight myself daily but more out of curiosity about the “early stall” i hear a lot. And looks like i started mine. However, you shiuld feel way less bloated and less pain to take that as a daily victory :)

Stalls are a normal part of the process. If you're doing everything you're supposed to be doing, then you can trust that your weight will eventually get to where it's supposed to be.

If the scale is making you crazy, stay off of it.

A stall can be classified as a stall when you stay the same weight for 6 weeks. Often after surgery particularly when being on an IV, people can gain weight from the fluids.

This whole thing is a long term plan. If you focus on the scales you will drive yourself nuts. Weight yourself once a week or once a month. Measure your body with a measuring tape and record the numbers. Do it again in once a month.

Focus on other goals in your life or fitness levels or doing practical things as you work your way to achieving other outcomes in your life. Day by day. Baby steps.

The same thing happened to me. It was so frustrating. Just remember… you had major surgery, your body is healing and trying to balance everything for homeostasis, and you’re still in the process of rebuilding energy stores around your liver. My stall broke a couple days into week 2 and came back a week later 😭 lol it felt like I couldn’t win, but here I am 24lbs lost and still going with mini stalls every week for a few days or so. Eventually, they break. Remember the science…if you’re taking in less than you burn while resting, you will lose weight. Just remember to get all your Protein and Water right now. Be easy on yourself!

I’m day 10 days post op and lost around 20lbs since the liquid pre-op diet. My weight loss has stalled since surgery. I’m only down 3lbs in 10 days. Hopefully the scale moves in another 2 weeks. I’m barely finishing 2 premier shakes and Bone Broth.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
