Good morning,

I am 4 months post RNY. I can usually eat about 800-1000 calories a day. My mind and heart are fighting because I know I am not overeating (I also work out almost everyday) but my weight is fluctuating up and down with no real loss for a few weeks. Could I be stalling at 4 months?

My head knows the answer but my heart needs confirmation. Thanks!

Yes, you can be and probably are.

You can stall several times while you are losing so yes you may be stalling again. Remember a stall is the time your body uses to reassess & readjust to your lower weight & new needs. It resets things like digestive hormones, metabolism, etc.

I know it's easier said than done but if you're doing the right things, eating below your BMR, then you're going to be okay and you're going to keep losing weight. I stalled a lot on my journey, especially around the 5th-month mark. Your body is going through a lot but keep doing what your treatment team advises and the weight will go down, I swear!

Do you have a scale that measures muscle mass? Maybe you've gone up!

I do! I will check that on weigh in day. Thank you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
