Jennifer Williams 10 Posted April 14, 2023 Does anyone have metal allergies? I have metal allergies and had stainless steel pins put in my broken finger about 25 years ago and had an allergic reaction and had to have them removed. I am terrified that they use titanium staples to close the stomach and that I will have a reaction. The surgeon seemed unbothered and said it's never happened. When I google titanium allergies, it is possible, but not highly common. I can't seem to get over my anxiety over this to the point that I want to cancel. HELP! GMaJen 79 Posted April 14, 2023 Tell him you researched it and there is a chance of you reacting to it and you don't want to take a chance and ask him to use something else. If he tries to placate you, just repeat that you want him to use something else. Don't let him intimidate you. I'd send an email so you have a record of it. The worse that can happen is that he refuses and you find another surgeon who will accommodate you. It's better than cancelling.
