Morning! It is really interesting to hear all the different post-surgery diet plans from our doctors. Mine has been a very strict 2 days Clear Liquids, 2 weeks full liquids, 2 weeks purees...will start on soft foods next Thursday and can hardly wait! 😅

Hi everyone! I was sleeved on 19/6 (Australian date format lol). My experience was no smooth sailing and I developed severe complications despite seeing the best surgeon at the best hospital. I’ve felt really scared, alone and isolated so I am delighted to find this forum.
my weight was only 92 pre op and I guess I was considered a healthy young woman.
5 days post op I developed a severe burning pain deep inside my stomach. After numerous emergency visits and tests, it was determine I did not have a gastric leak. I had to be re admitted to hospital to manage the most severe pain of my life, for another 5 days and they still didn’t know what was wrong. Long story short, I had to self refer myself to a gastroenterologist who immediately knew what was wrong. I had developed bile reflux from my bowel into my freshly cut stomach which was causing the searing pain, severe inflammatory gastritis of my stomach lining, which then caused pancreatitis and severe spasms of my actual stomach. Because of all of this I could not even get Water down and my throat was burning and mouth dried up from bile damage. He put me on a bunch of new intense meds and nearly 6 weeks post op now I am starting to feel normal. It’s been a really scary rough ride and emotional and I haven’t known if I’ve made the right decision. I can eat about 1/4 cup soft foods now which I am grateful for. Anyway I wanted to share my story in case you ever come across someone with these symptoms and doctors don’t believe them / don’t know what is wrong. Great to meet you all! Thanks for sharing your journeys! :)

Hey y'all

I know it's been a while. But tbh and transparent I have been going through it. Don't ever let anyone tell you this is the easiest way out. It's not. Sometimes I wish I could just go in the kitchen and fix a sandwich and chips and watch Netflix. This is the hardest thing I've ever done besides bury my mother. But don't give up guys .... don't. I wish y'all the best.

Hey there chef - their aint no shame in this game honey; its whatever works for you! If that is what motivates you, you go girl. We are all just trying to get through this anyway we can because yup, it is hard. I use visualisation and also keeping up the swimming each day because of its positive impact upon my mind set and general sense of wellbeing. I also pray, give thanks and am going to start some new hobbies. Its by any (healthy) means necessary - I intend to make it and I wish the same for all of you xx

We can all do it and I’m sure during this process we’ve felt what everybody is feeling. It’s not for the weak for sure but I’m assuming this is what we all needed to jump start our better life. I’m hopi g at the 3 month mark things will become easier and by 6 months we will be pros. Some ideas to help, stay positive, don’t weigh yourself all the time, drink your fluids- I still struggle with that. My go to foods right now, Keto friendly carb balance whole wheat tortillas I only eat half with mesquite turkey with a slice of cheddar cheese and I put it in the toaster oven. I have keto friendly street tacos and I had a shrimp taco last night with some refried Beans on it. Those are my favs right now. Oh and the oikios greek yogurt. To everyone hang in there, it will be worth it. Also don’t compare or judge yourself to anyone here, we’re all different and things are going to be different for all of us.

I think that is a very sensible idea - ive decided to weigh once weekly.

I weighed myself everyday the first month after my surgery. Now I just weigh myself Sunday to start the week and Wednesday to make sure I am on track.

Good morning, has anyone switch to the once a day Multi Vitamins yet? I’m trying the fusion ones but they are so big and make me gag everyday. Any other options out there?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
