With the liquid diet is anyone working out or all of this weight loss is due to all liquids?

Hi Carla, I haven’t been working out during my liquid diet. Today is day 7 of liquids for me and I am down 8 lbs. I am fairly active most days with a lot of walking but nothing out of the norm during this time.

Honey - it gets easier; you’re almost through the difficult bit! Keep bury. Have a drink of Water when those phantom hunger pangs hit you. Take yourself out for a walk if you can. Keep telling yourself you got this because it’s only 2 weeks. I’ve just finished my liquid diet and I have my surgery today (it’s almost 2am here). Stay with it and stay strong with everything you have. It’s two weeks out of the rest of your life - you are on the road to living the life you have always imagined. you are a bright star 🌟 x

I felt (feel) the same way. I'm lucky in that I only have 8 days of liquid before surgery (I'm scheduled for this Friday). I've found a few things helpful in getting through this liquid diet:

  • Stay busy with non-food things. I went to work, cleaned our bathrooms, did outside yard work, went shopping / window browsing...
  • Make a schedule of your liquids for the day. Like 8am: coffee with Protein Shake, 9am flavored water, 10am sugar free jell-o, 11am broth, etc.... It helps me to have "something" to look forward to and ensure I am drinking enough.
  • If you have a family that you typically cook for, ask for help from someone else to do the cooking, or have easy foods. My kids ate some easy convenience food this week; the less time I am in the kitchen, the better.
  • Constantly sip on something. Chew gum if you can. I have found these to be good distractions at times.

A lot of people say this is the hardest part of this whole thing. Not sure if that's true, but literally trying to avoid the kitchen and food as much as possible has helped me. I know that is not always possible for everyone, but if it is, I'd say to just avoid and know that this is NOT forever! Good luck

During the day it's ok because no one is here the hard part is when they come home, they eating pizza, or wings, so I just go to my room until they are done then I'll drink my broth or Jello or something. Hang in there.

Yes, I agree!! My husband is still eating all the same stuff, bringing McDonalds in the house, candy for himself. I wish he had a little more consideration...

Yes, I get the statements I know you starving aren't you hungry. I'm determined to make it through, this is my 3rd day of liquid I am still allowed to eat 3 to 4 ounces of Protein, but that's my last results because next week it's all liquids no meat what so ever

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
