If you’re staying overnight, pack your own sleepwear. So much nicer to wear yours than the hospital gown. Plus yours fit better - no unintentional flashing as you do your laps around the ward. Same with your own soap/shower gel. The hospital antiseptic washes are drying & remind you you’re in hospital. All good for your soul.

Toiletries, devices & charging cords, Biotin mouth moisturising spray, lip balm, any medication you’re on (check with the hospital - I had to bring mine in their original boxes & unopened, Webster packs were okay). Wear the same clothes home you arrived in. Pack a spare pair of sleepwear & knickers. Accidents (diarrhoea) do happen & very quickly!

All the best.

Your LOOSEST fitting pj's. Pants will fit tightly after surgery thanks to the gas pumped into the stomach. You'll appreciate the extra room in your pants in the ride back home

Ive read that other people have suggested Air freshener, your own toiletries including Biotin spray and mouthwash, heating pad, lotion, ear plugs, medicine list, cell phone/charger, chap stick, comfy clothes, spare underwear in case of accidents, extension cord, sanitary hand wipes, your own pillow, and a small pillow to place by abdomen for support(especially for car ride home. You can put it between your abdomen and the seat belt), and an abdominal support wrap, and anything that will make you comfortable ie your own blankie, stuffed animal etc. I was also thinking about bringing my own clear liquid like protein20, and sipping broth from bariatricPal. I also have a binder of info that my surgeon wants me to bring to the hospital. Hope this helps someone else out!

I didn't take much but I tend to pack light regardless. Charger, chapstick, wallet (self pay), spare undies, robe (didnt use). Wore a dress and slip sandals, and left the hospital with that.

don't take much because if you're like most of us, you'll be sleeping most of the time you're there. The only things I used were my cell phone (and take your charger!) and the clothes that I both arrived and left in (make sure they're comfy and easy to put on/take off).

I took toiletries but didn't need them since the hospital provided me with a bag of them - soap, Shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste. I don't know if all hospitals give you those, though.

I did take Biotin spray but didn't need it - but a lot of people do. Same with chapstick (or other lip balm). I didn't use it, but a lot of people do.

they'll have gowns and non-slip socks there, so I didn't take anything like that. Really, for me, it was just the clothes and the cell phone. I slept most of the time I was there.

For an overnight, as@Catwoman7 said you'll be sleeping most of the time.

A phone with charger, a toothbrush, a large comfortable outfit that just slips on when it is time to go home, a small pillow for the ride home if bumpy (can hold it to your stomach).

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
