Getting paranoid that I’m eating too much:/ I’m tracking my calories and it varies between 1800-2000 a day. Does anyone else find there restriction is more known on certain foods like meats etc? It does seem a lot of calories if you’re still trying to lose. But if it is what your team advised based on your body & needs, activity levels, etc. that’s fine. You may be in maintenance. With a BMI of 27 & at your goal, this may be at your new set point (the weight your body is happiest at & is easiest to maintain). To lose more weight you’ll have to be more active & consume fewer calories but to stay at the lower weight you will have to continue to do more & eat less than you do now. My restriction kicks in more quickly if I eat food that is too dry, coarse or dense or if I eat too quickly. If a food is dense, like certain meats, it will feel heavy in your tummy & feel like you’re full more quickly setting off your restriction. Sometimes I feel it but can’t work out why - just a quirk of my tummy. 1 SleeverSk reacted to this
Char9196 1 Posted April 5, 2023 I’ve researched my BMR and what my maintenance calories are etc. and to maintain is 2560 a day and I’m averaging about 1850-1900 max most days. I’ll just keep pushing lol. My dietician is having a look at my food diary to see where she can help.
mkellee 47 Posted April 6, 2023 I know stalls are normal, but man I am getting pissed at this point. I hit 7 months on March 17th, but I have been in a stall for almost 2 months. I have tried eating carbs then going back to no carbs. I tried upping the calories. I upped my exercise(and gained 2 lbs). I have no idea what else to do. So what other things have worked for people to get over a long term stall. [emoji2959]Have you tried calling your doctor? I hit a stall for about 4 weeks. Then started losing again. My doctor said if I hit a stall again that lasts over 2 weeks to call. There are things they can do or tell me to do to break the stall. I'm hoping that works, next step would be a week of liquids. The support group nutritionist said that even though stalls are normal and part of the body adjusting, must stalls after the honey moon phase are due to the amount of Protein we are consuming and we should start looking at macros at that point (60-80g protein anything above can become fat, 50-60 carbs net if lifting/HIIT, 30g fat). I have seen members of the group have slow losses around month 6 (less than 6lbs per month) and come back with a 15lb loss the next month. But if you are not loosing at all for 2 months, I will call the Doc and see if they can help you. I know you can send the nutritionist your food log and she can review to see if something can be tweaked.
BriarRose 438 Posted April 9, 2023 Sometimes our bodies just decide to hold onto where we are right now. I am 12 years out. I had a wonderful Birthday week - and then some celebrations .... and a trip to Disneyland and ate meals out. I literally gained 5 pounds in a week. Shrug. I went back to what I do.. high Protein, low to no processed carbs, lots of fruit and veggies, yogurt, cheese, nuts.... and for the first week and a half....nothing. the 5 lb weight just sat there. I ignored it. Two weeks, nothing, three weeks.... finally this week... it all came off. I did NOTHING different. It just happens that way (for me, at least) sometimes. It WILL come off. Give your body time. Losing weight quickly as we do in the first year is traumatic to our bodies. If your body shuts down, there may be a reason. I always figure my body is telling me that food is limited and we are having a famine ..... I explain to myself that this is not pre-history. I have a freezer and a stove and food. Eventually it will Happen.

Sunnyer 131 Posted April 10, 2023 (edited) I totally understand what you are going through, and I'm with you in the frustration. I'm 8 months from surgery and I've stalled for the last three months. I've only lost around 20 kilos (44 pounds) and I'm still 15 kilos or 33 pounds from healthy weight. I can't believe this is all the result I will get from a very costly and difficult surgery. I'm halfway there, and I don't know how to jumpstart my weight loss. It seems to make little difference what I eat. I don't eat a lot. A typical day for me is 8-900 calories. I went on a week long trip this Easter and decided to eat whatever. I still didn't eat a lot at every meal, because I get full really easily, but I ate regular food and didn't write down calories. I normally use myfitnesspal, but skipped it this week. The result? I still weigh the same as I did three months ago. Now I've gone back to low carb and I've gained 100 grams. During my vacation, I walked a lot. Didn't make any difference. I haven't exercised as much as I wanted to, because I've had repeated injury, but I still try to move as much as possible. And I cannot fast during the week, because it makes me so tired and cranky, and I need energy for working with difficult teenagers. I'm at a loss what to do. I'm wondering if this is it for me. If I'm going to be one of those people who fail at everything, including weight loss surgery.
Muffinman1119 84 Posted April 11, 2023 I hear ya! It is very difficult, frustrating, and down right annoying when you hit a stall. I’m 8+ months post-op and have hit 3 remarkable stalls. The longest one lasted almost a month, the other two were 2-3 weeks. Just follow your body’s cues and listen to them. The stalls will go away on their own in time.
