I licked My Fingers :(

Recommended Posts

We had a lunchen today and I was asked to help set up, no biggy right, untill they asked me to cut an Italian Cream Cake. I was doing really good thinking wow this isn't even that bad. (pre-op liquid diet day 2)

But when I finished I automatically licked my fingers. All I could think of was Dr G said he would know if I cheated. Funny how things run through our heads.

Accidental Finger Licking? No Biggie. Plus that icing is mostly oil/shortening/butter - so it becomes liquid pretty quickly when it moves through the system.

I think that was unconscious - not really, cheating. Eating is a habit that we've done 3x a day for all our lives. It's not automatic to think about every single thing that goes it our mouths, right.

You're fine. Good Luck on your upcoming banding! :clap2:We'll make room for you over on The Skinny Side.

NewSho. Thanks for the reply. On the skinny side? That scares me too, I've always been a "Big Girl" so I'm just shooting for smaller and healthier

Thanks again,

Ja

Jalee,

If you HADN'T licked your fingers there would have been something wrong with you! Be proud you didn't eat the cake! Just sitting there staring at the danged thing would have sent me over the edge.

I remember when I was on pre-op and made my son a pbj. I couldn't stand it and licked the knife. When my DH said something in jest I said, "Well I didn't put a tablespoon's worth on it first. That's GOT to count for something." hehehe

You restrained yourself and only had a lick. Would that have been you a month ago?? Be proud of the accomplishment. I would be.

Steph

I agree with Steph. Licking your fingers is not the same as eating a whole piece of cake girlie! You are well on your way!

Not to poo-poo on this party, but you need to avoid sugars so your liver can shrink. No more icing!! :yell:

:biggrin1:

OK, I'll see you on the "Lighter Side." I never aimed at being skinny, I'm totally not skinny and I don't think "Thin Is In." I was always big too - but who knew there was a NORMAL-sized girl in me? The LapBand found her!

Come on over, it's pretty darn good living on "The Lighter Side." ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
