candy8360 0 Posted December 19, 2007 I have a post op appt. on Dec. 27 and thought I would be getting my first fill that day. I called to verify and was told I had to wait until Jan. 3 for my first fill. I'm kind of disappointed. I'm feeling hungry and am afraid that I will gain weight before the 3rd. I don't see why they can't go ahead and give me a fill on Dec. 27th.
lovekatz1975 1 Posted December 19, 2007 You need to let your insides heal. I had to wait 4 weeks after surgery to get my first fill, and I wound up losing 11 pounds during that time.
candy8360 0 Posted December 19, 2007 I have lost 10 altogether, but most of that was on the liquid diet before the surgery. Now I'm hungry all the time and the small portions they recommend are not making me full at all. I'm having a tendency to want to eat more, and that scares me. Willpower has NEVER been easy for me. That is why I felt like the band would help. I guess this is what they mean by bandster hell!!! I will try to be patient. Never have been good at that! steph_co 9 Posted December 22, 2007 Yes, it was hard for me to wait for my first fill, too. But filling too soon *can* lead to slippage. So even though I wanted that instant gratification, I realized that this isn't a race...this is the rest of my life (this band), so I'd rather be patient and let my body adjust. I want this band to be there for me for life, so I do my best to take care of it. Just hang in there - you'll be there soon enough.
candy8360 0 Posted December 23, 2007 thanks. I know it's not going to happen overnight. I get overanxious, have never been good at patience!
snowbird 2 Posted December 23, 2007 Relax, don't beat yourself over the head and feel like a failure. This is how it goes for most of us. I lost 17 lb on the liquid diet and only two pounds during the next four weeks. Plus the only reason I lost even the two pounds was willpower and a determination not to let my husband outdo me, not the band. Then I got my first fill and dropped 7 pounds in about a week. That's when you really find out what being banded is all about. Now I need another fill (scheduled for January 10) so I know I won't be losing much between now and then. christine8 0 Posted December 31, 2007 I was banded 21 September and still not had my 1st fill. I went on 17 December but my Consultant had been called away and a registrar tried to do a fill but couldn`t find the port which he thinks has flipped. Now I am waiting for xray before I see the doctor again but they couldn`t give me a date. I`m so depressed and have stuffed myself over xmas and now so mad with myself. candy8360 0 Posted December 31, 2007 Oh Christine, I can imagine how bad you feel. Do you have any idea when they will do the x-ray? I can only imagine how bad it must be. I too would be finding solace in food. That is one of the reasons I have such a problem with my weight now. food has been my comfort. I know they rescheduled my surgery, and I had been on a liquid diet for almost two weeks. They called the day before my scheduled surgery and told me it would be another week. I rebelled by going out to eat that night. Fortunately, I didn't do too much damage, and went right back on the liquids, but I know it is SO easy to turn to food when we get depressed. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Ann
