I had a week of solid pain after my surgery, I believe it was gas buildup, but once it all passed I felt great, which surgery did you have? I had the bypass, but I heard the VSG is much more painful to recover from

I had the sleeve almost 3 weeks ago. Today is the only day I been in pain. My recovery has been fantastic till today lol. Was told by my dr it’s pretty normal because that’s where she stitched inside.

Yeah that’s what I heard about the VSG, the stitching required causes pain that I didn’t have to deal with since my stomach wasn’t cut and removed. Hopefully it goes away quickly!!!

Thanks me too. I’m sure it will pass. It only comes on if I get up to quick or move wrong. Other then that I’ve been very happy with my choice. It was so fast. She did it robotically and I went home same day. Went right back to work 3 days after.

Wish I were that lucky, I went home the following day. Which I thought was quick haha, same day would have been awesome! I’m on to the soft foods stage now, but I haven’t felt “full” yet like I would before, also haven’t really gotten hungry, it’s strange, but I do get sore from time to time when I drink too fast or eat too fast

I have been saying the same thing to my friends I don’t feel hungry or full. If they hadn’t put me on a time to eat I probably wouldn’t because I don’t know I’m hungry and I stop eating in 30 mins because they told me I don’t feel full. I don’t want to stretch my pouch either but it feels strange not having those feelings. I’m 4 weeks post-op from gastric bypass surgery

I’m on soft foods to and I get full fast. I barely eat an ounce or two each meal. One shake takes me almost an hour to drink. Sometimes I drink half and then drink the other half later. I meet my goals each day but it takes me 3 to 4 tiny meals and a snack through out the day.

Glad I’m not the only one, it’s really weird to not feel anything either way. Guess I just need to stay up on it!

I’ve had no issues drinking since the day after surgery. Even the shakes seem to go right through me, I mentioned it to the doctor and she said the liquids can do that sometimes, but I’m not sure why I don’t ever feel full, or hungry for that matter

I'm allowed to start incorporating soft foods now, a week early, yay! I've gotten the bit too full feeling twice now, it's uncomfortable until it moves down. I seem to hiccup when full sometimes so use that as a stop signal.

@Synlee how are you?

Congrats! I can’t wait till I’m all healed up and can start eating normal foods again, I love chicken and especially white meat, but my surgeon says I need to stay away from it because it’s too dry and can cause a blockage…although canned chicken is fine with a little mayo or yogurt. Been a heck of a journey so far.

Drains are out Hooray!! I am on soft food for 4 weeks 1 Protein Shake a day. I am so happy to get those drains out.

Congrats Gabbie! I didn't have to have drains, so I have no idea how annoying they are, but I can imagine.

What was your 1st soft food, and how did it go?

Silly question I’m sure, does anyone know how to update their surgery info on their profile? I can’t seem to edit anything but my name, gender and birthday along with general info about me…I’m sure I’m missing something, lol

Took me a bit to figure out as well. Click on the triangle up top-right by your profile name, one of the options is "My Surgery" You can update your info there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
