Tea actually does satisfy some cravings

Recommended Posts

I have to admit I have seen many people mention it on here but had never tried it till today. I failed with the sleeve and I’m trying other things before I go the revision route. The NP said to try tea, especially when I know it hasn’t been long since I have eaten and surprisingly I think it worked.

I'm not a tea person but have found it does help when I eat an early dinner and feel the urge to eat but I'm not really hungry or is close to bedtime. I found I enjoy lavender tea.

Well Publix had bogo on the celestial teas today so I got two sample packs. So far I’ve tried the wild berry zinger and the raspberry zinger and they are both good. I think the second box are the more relaxing type teas they include one called sleepytime and camomile which I am pretty sure is calming.

It acts as a distraction to your head hunger. You sip it slowly which allows time for the urge to eat to pass (head hunger doesn’t last real hunger does). Tea (black, green or herbal) tends to have a calming/soothing effect so if emotions are behind your desire to eat it can help with that too.

Has worked well for me also, but keep in mind that tea often is a caffinated drink. I stick to the many "decaffinated" blends, especially in the evening.

Hmm...maybe I should give this a try. I find I crave things to eat in the late evening. I miss having tea. Chamomile was always a favorite.

While many plans say to avoid caffeine, green & herbal teas are often allowed but check with your team. Eventually caffeine can be reintroduced.

I gave it up some years back (almost 20 yrs I think) because it began to mess terribly with my sleep which was already bad. I switched to green tea but usually only have one cup (albeit a very large mug every day). They often say green tea will help with weight loss - didn’t me 😁 - but I think it is if you drink it instead of eating or don't eat anything with it.

I was able to get two sample pack of caffeine free ones that are pretty good. I am allowed caffeine so I wasn’t even paying attention to that but it turned out they were.

I drink a ton of tea nowadays. Pre op it was a cup here and there, but now I have 3-4 cups a day. One caffeinated during the afternoon and herbal or Decaf while I’m cooking dinner and after dinner in the wind down part of my night. It has replaced a void that I didn’t realize may have been snacking before.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
