Courtney* 10 Posted February 21, 2023 I’m about 3.5 months out from mini gastric bypass and I’m really worried I’m stretching my little stomach. I get nauseous really easily (although it’s better) and sometimes I have foods that sit really heavy in my chest but I can’t tell if that means I’m full or not. I’ve noticed I need to slow down between bites and so I’m going to work on that. I’ve been steadily losing weight, averaging 1.5 pounds a week and I haven’t had a stall yet. Could I be missing cues of fullness? I’m just so worried I’ll undo the entire surgery.

Tomo 1,194 Posted February 21, 2023 Normally I can down a third of a cup if it’s substantial. Yogurt Ive been doing 5 ounces. Sounds about right for 3.5 months. Some eat more, some eat less. You're good. Just keep working on learning your cues. You'll be a pro in no time. 2 Courtney* and Smanky reacted to this

omrhsn 623 Posted February 22, 2023 I also had the MGB a year ago. Like you I was struggling with food at first. My doctor advised me to eat less but more often. So I used to finish my meal over 1 or 2 hours. Now I know my limits and what I can handle and I'd immediately stop eating if I feel the slightest discomfort. Delaying drinking Water by at least 20-30 minutes after eating was really helpful in my case. Good luck. 1 Courtney* reacted to this

I’ll try less more often as well. Are there specific things you notice as being full or is it just any discomfort at all? 1 omrhsn reacted to this
Alex Brecher 10,515 Posted February 22, 2023 It's common to feel nervous about stretching your stomach after bariatric surgery, especially in the early stages of recovery. However, it's important to listen to your body and trust the process. Slowing down between bites and being mindful of the foods you're eating can help you better identify feelings of fullness 2 Courtney* and Blessd1 reacted to this
heatherdbby 70 Posted February 22, 2023 yes! our last class before surgery is when they told us the position you feel being full in will change to being in your chest. for me it was like right behind my sternum def slow down on taking bites, i know thats my hardest part too!! 1 Courtney* reacted to this

Are there specific things you notice as being full or is it just any discomfort at all? I will echo what @Alex Brecher and @heatherdbby said. Slowing down between the bite is the way to go. I used to take a bite, chew it well, swallow it and wait for at least 2 mins or so between taking the second one. If I feel I'm full or discomfort I will stop right away. I struggled with some foods more that the others. For instance, I had to be extra careful when having chicken, meat or scrambled eggs. I cut my meat and chicken is very small bites and chew it very well. I hope this helps 2 Blessd1 and Alex Brecher reacted to this
