JulieNYC's medial thigh lift, breast augmentation and mons lift

Well, I MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT be turning the corner on the seromas. My right leg is dramatically improved. If it stays this way, I might not have to drain it again -- it might resolve completely on its own. Last time I drained it was 2 days ago and I only got out 4 cc's (that's very, very little) and though there's still a little knot there, that's normal post seroma and should resolve itself. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, God.

The left leg is better too -- not as much better, but I am seeing some improvement. It's not filling up as quickly or quite as much. Still about 15 cc's at a time, which means I have to keep draining it, but it was at about 40cc's, so there IS some progress. Keep your fingers crossed for me. And I haven't even done the betadine treatments yet, so there's still one thing to try if the left leg doesn't resolve.

Lynn and Aura, I will answer you both, I'm just fighting heavy depression right now and this update is all I've got right now. I promise I'll come back to address the rest as soon as I can.

Julie - I haven't stopped by your thread to say hi in a while. So sorry to hear you are having a rough time. Nobody deserves smooth sailing more than you! Let me know if there is anything I can do - if you need to meet up for a coffee and a cheer up sometime!

hey wrote to you before Xmas - Dr Fielding did me too (so to speak )

also went to family in Alabama - Hope Hull- remember ?? Well anyhow - is there such a thing as surgery to correct fat calves and ankles?

thanks aura114@aol.com

I'm pretty sure you can Lipo nearly every are of the body, including the calves and the ankles, if it's really an issue of fat. If it's an issue of skin, they can extend the medial thigh lift down the entire length of the leg -- not just to mid thigh or to the knee (what I have). That's very uncommon, but I read it can be done in extreme cases.

If it's just genetics and you have thicker calves in muscle, I don't know what can be done for that, other than lengthening exercise like pilates and running. There may be something, but I have never researched it.

Good luck!

how long were you 'down' after your TT? I will be doing an extended TT with Lipo and the doctor said I wouldn't be able to drive for about 10 days, does that sound about right? How long did you have someone with you around the clock following surgery?

I will probably have the surgery on a Friday, spend the night in the hospital and then be home on Saturday. I am looking at doing it in early May so that I will be fully-functional by the time school gets out. My son plays baseball year-round and will be starting the All-Star and select season toward the end of May. It is very important that I am back to myself by then, but I can't do it any sooner because of my daughter's club volleyball and track schedule

That all sounds about right. Driving in 10 days is about right. Don't expect it to be sooner though -- it really will take you 10 days because you're not supposed to stand up straight to put any strain on the tightened muscles during those early days. I felt pretty bad for about a week, then started feeling better and better. My drains from the TT came out in day 6 or 7, I believe. By that point I could hobble around my house and do MILD things (like microwave Soup for myself, but I couldn't have cooked dinner for the family, etc.).

By 3 weeks out, I will NOT tell you I was 100%. I could certainly have driven kids around and gone to baseball games, etc. by that point (I was back at work, for example), but I tired more easily for a full 6 weeks. I just required more sleep, required more sitting, etc. than what I'd call "full speed." I'm sure you can make it work -- you want and deserve this for YOU!

Right leg seroma is GONE. WOOHOO! It's still got a little knot there, but it'll resolve over time and you can't see it -- you have to press on the leg to feel it. YAY.

Left leg is much improved. We're not going to drain it anymore and see if it keeps getting smaller on its own. By the end of the weekend I should know whether I'm truly on the mend.

Dad says I should be able to return to running in about 2 weeks. YAY YAY YAY.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
