LindsayT 596 Posted February 11, 2023 I'm still pre-op and don't have a surgery date yet. So my problem is, I am hungry ALL. THE. TIME. I eat ALL. THE. TIME. Is this an unconscious pre-surgery last hoorah? If so, that's not my intention. I don't have an eating disorder. I haven't started a new medication. Maybe hormones, but I don't have a period, so not sure there. My husband is away on business, but this isn't a new thing for us.Has anyone experienced this?My dietitian tells me to focus on Protein and Fiber. Trying, but not helping. I'm in therapy and have dealt with about 90% of my issues. I've never been one to emotionally eat. I do take antidepressants, but I haven't had issues with eating with the new cocktail of meds I'm on.This is a new issue for me and I don't understand what's going on. Thanks for your insights and help. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
NovaLuna 710 Posted February 11, 2023 It could be that you're dealing with stress or anxiety and both can cause you to eat more. Maybe you don't register the fact that you're having issues with stress or anxiety, but your body does and thus the urge to eat. I'm just using my own experience here so it could be different for you, but this is just my own perspective. 3 Arabesque, Jeanniebug and GreenTealael reacted to this
SleeverSk 635 Posted February 13, 2023 Sounds like emotional eating to me. I never realised how much I relied on food until after my surgery. I never classed myself as an emotional eater but boy oh boy was I wrong. Be kind to yourself do some inner searching, work out why you are stressed the answer is most likely pre surgery anxiety (very normal) and find other ways to soothe your nerves like coming here and reading posts 😄 3 NettyD, Tomo and SleeverSk reacted to this
berryboo97 16 Posted February 18, 2023 I found to help hungry was using vital Proteins collagen. I mixed it with sugar free ocean spray juice. I also use the fiber powder from Bariatric Advantage. I still using it post op but add Miralax to it.
SirKat 28 Posted February 22, 2023 Honestly, the couple weeks before my pre-op diet I considered my food Funeral. I don’t think I really ate excessively, but I wanted to eat things I knew would be a long time before I could enjoy again. im a little over halfway through my 2 week pre-op diet, and while I am hungry, I’m kinda used to it and it doesn’t bother me too much. 1 NettyD reacted to this
