tiffanyb12211 21 Posted January 30, 2023 Hello All, I just had my surgery consultation today and my nutritionist wants me to start taking a Multi-Vitamin. She suggested finding a chewable (not gummies) one that i like because i will have to take that after surgery. Does anyone have any recommendations on brands for chewable? catwoman7 11,221 Posted January 31, 2023 I was on chewables for the first several months (then I was allowed to switch to tablets). I don't know that any of the chewables are terrific, but I always got Centrum Silver or a generic equivalent. You can sometimes find those in chewable form (I always found them - but I know some people have trouble finding them). They were OK.
MountainClover 81 Posted January 31, 2023 I use the Pro Care chewable vitamins, They seem to be ok. I only have to be on the chewable ones for 3 months then I can go to the tablets.
tiffanyb12211 21 Posted January 31, 2023 Thanks guys. I wonder if we can take Flintstones? Lol
Arabesque 7,442 Posted January 31, 2023 (edited) Actually I have read about some people who do take the Flintstones ones. If they work can’t see a problem. Some find the creators unpalatable so maybe have a look around & see what Vitamins you can find in a patch or an oral spray formula. I started using an oral spray Vit D+K in winter last year. It was so easy - single squirt under the tongue. It lasted for ages (about 6 months) so more economical than tablets & my levels did rise so it worked. I’ve seen Vitamin B & C oral sprays. BigSue 1,394 Posted January 31, 2023 chewable Multivitamins taste terrible, so I wouldn’t recommend taking them any longer than you have to. My surgeon told me to take chewables for the first 6 weeks after surgery, and as soon as that was over, I was glad to go back to a capsule. I used BariatricPal chewables, and once I switched to capsules, I started BariatricPal Multivitamin ONE capsules. They are a great price. I got sample packs of a couple of other brands of chewable bariatric multivitamins, and they were equally disgusting, so I went with BariatricPal due to the price. The good news is that calcium citrate chews are delicious. I get the BariatricPal French vanilla caramel and Belgian chocolate caramel, and I look forward to taking them (also a great price compared to other Calcium citrate chews). I also take chewable Biotin and Vitamin D, Natrol brand from Amazon, and they taste good, like strawberry candies. And NatureMade sublingual B12 tablets taste like cherry candies. Lol I used to hear reports that they didn't have enough of what we need, but that was a few years ago. They may be better now. I know that a lot of clinics are OK with them (including mine), but I always opted for Centrum or the generic equivalent, which my clinic's RD said were actually a better choice. here are the recommendations of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Just make sure that whatever you pick meets their basic recommendations for your type of surgery, and you should be good: ASMBS-Nutritional-Guidelines-2016-Update.pdf
