I was banded 11/5/07 and still tender and sore around port area. When I move a certain way, it's like a burning sensation. Anyone else have this issue? How long does it take to heal?

I was banded on Nov. 1st and the area around my port is still tender. Usually only when I move a certain way or it gets pinched when I bend over to tie my shoes.

I'm October 9th and my port area is just now getting healed to the point where I forget about it a lot.

When I went back to the YMCA two weeks ago, though, it sure told me it was there! So much so, (I may have a hernia also--will find out from the surgeon on Friday) that I'm not going to lift weights again until January.

So, girls, it takes a while--we just have to learn patience...:)

I'm 7 weeks post-op and the soreness in my port area JUST went away about a week ago. My doctor told me that it takes 6-8 weeks for the pain to completely go away, and it might come back slightly after working out. I remember thinking to myself that the pain wouldn't ever go away, but it does, so don't worry! I understand how annoying it is for you though!! Just be patient and I promise it'll go away.

I have had my band since 7/07.The initial sorness went away after a few weeks, and after a couple months I didn't even know it was really there. More often lately though I am feeling it. It is like a burning feeling. Sometimes if I rub that area it will ease up, but sometimes it doesn't. I am a little worried that I may have twisted it or something. I have wondered if it will move as a person looses the weight. I have lost 153 pounds. I haven't been in to see my surgeon in several months I guess I should make an appointment and get back in there to be sure everything is still in the right place.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
