Today I bought the most delicious chewale...gummy vites. They are Gummy bears. They won some taste award. They are good, taste like candy, but have all the vits you need.

My doc's office recommended Citracal Creamy Bites. The lemon is nasty, the caramel and chocolate aren't half bad. Just make sure when you take your Calcium that you don't take it at the same time as your Multi-Vitamin because the Iron can interfere with absorbtion. And don't take more than 500 mg of calcium...your body can only handle that much at once.

My doctor recommends calcium citrate rather than calcium carbonate and the Citracal is calcium citrate. I plan to switch to those next so thanks for the flavor recommendation. I used to love Viactiv but it's calcium carbonate. ;)

Can I ask why Calcium citrate rather than Calcium carbonate? What's the benefit / difference? I was just told to add a calcium supplement without any extra details ;)

My understanding is that calcium citrate is better absorbed than calcium carbonate. The nurse practitioner, who specializes in nutrition, at my GP's office first advised me about calcium citrate a few years ago. Then the nutritionist in my surgeon's office gave the same advice.

I've also read that Calcium carbonate can cause gas.

Calcium can also cause Constipation for those who are prone to it.

my Dr said to no to the gummies, I thought it was bc they would get stuck? Now I am not so sure

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I'm going to do some internet searching based on the advice and see what I come up with.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
