5 Days post op and feeling pretty good! I'm weak and a bit lightheaded in the morning until I can get enough Protein in. Had my first BM yesterday (sorry if TMI, but I figure after we've been through that shouldn't offend anyone LOL) Gas is slowing coming out. Woke up this morning surprised to find myself sleeping on my stomach. No nausea at all. I've barely been able to meet my protein and liquid goals, but it requires sipping all day long. The only thing is a persistant sharp stitch like cramp on my left side. Hiccups hurt like the devil LOL. How is everyone else progressing?

It gets easier by the day to meet the protein/liquid goals. Hang in there!

Tomorrow, I'll be at 3 weeks post-op and returning to work on Thursday. Went to the gym twice now and was slow, but steady, on the treadmill. It's been night and day from the first week to the third. Feeling so much better.

Surgery today was fine. Sore, tired and thirsty.hardest thing is going slow on the liquids.

I hear you! It still is a little hard being a week out. But try a spoonful or a sip, wait for it to go down and just pay attention to how it feels. Maybe wait a few seconds to a minute and then take another sip/spoonful

Not only do hiccups hurt, but sneezing too lol. I'm still having trouble getting my goals met. But I can't achieve them if I the a nap during the day. That's hard wven before surgery, I took a nap during the day. I find it hard too because I'm so sick of Protein Shakes, they're starting to taste so sweet to me. I can't wait to start purees next week.

It doesn't hurt to sleep on your stomach? When I was able to sleep on my side a few days ago, I was so happy, but I have to have a pillow.

I want to make a chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Shake and I want to use peanut butter instead of the powdered peanut butter. Is it okay to use it? I love jiff brand

I hear you on the Protein drinks! Last night I was having a strawberry one and I could barely stand it it was so sweet!
I am mostly a back sleeper, and sometimes roll on my side when restless. I was surprised to wake up on my stomach!

I don't think we're supposed to have Peanut Butter because of the sugar. The powder has only 1 g per serving.

My surgeon allows peanut butter and I'm in the soft foods phase 15 days post op. Every program is different so I suggest using your best judgement on what you can tolerate or reaching out to the surgeon office.

I had a salted caramel one, tasted good warm, then I couldn't finish it so I put it in the refrigerator and then the sweetness really came out. I guess they were right, our tastebuds change!

I'm a side sleeper, I can't usually sleep on my back. Were you sore when you got up?

I see in the recipes they gave. One has powdered Peanut Butter and then the other one doesn't specify if it's regular or powder so maybe I'm allowed. Lol I'm gonna check the recipe again. It's funny cause some stuff has sugar that I'm allowed and it doesn't bother me. Like the yogurt I get

Did you all get to pick your surgery date? My last dietitian appointment is in May and then my doctor will submit everything to my insurance company. I’m thinking June I will get approved but July I go to the beach and don’t want to do it before then.

Hey! I just scheduled my surgery date and I got to schedule it the day I was hoping! February 21st.

Anyone else have a February surgery date??

Maybe we can help each other!

My surgery date was 2/20. I’m trying to focus on Water and Protein. How’s everything going with you?

Surgery was 2/27, I’m doing surprisingly well, other than feeling like a human pincushion between the lovenox shots and bruising from hospital sticks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
