TinksUK 2 Posted January 2, 2023 Hi guys! I have bypass surgery on 9th January, and overall very nervous! I had a gastric sleeve in 2016, and the gas pain post op was horrendous, I am seeiously freaking out about this happening again. Has anyone got any advice from their experience apart feom peppermint juice? 1 DrinkMoreRadium reacted to this
Arabesque 7,416 Posted January 3, 2023 Walk, walk, walk. Deep slow breathing. March on the spot (standing or sitting), lift your arms (carefully) up & down. Gotta get the gas moving up & then breathed out. Heat packs can help. How much gas pain you have depends on your surgeon, how much they need to use to inflate your abdominal region & how you process it.

I find it interesting that so many people had gas pain from the sleeve, I had zero gas pain, only pain from the incisions, but to be fair I think I slept through it. I don’t remember waking up in recovery at all. I only remember waking up at 8 pm thinking the incision pain was horrible whenever I moved. I had more gas pain when I had my hysterectomy.
