NewYearNewMe2025 0 Posted December 18, 2007 Getting ready...seems like Dec 28th is approaching really fast! Next Tuesday is Christmas, and 3 days after that, I will be having my surgery. They called and gave me my surgery time yesterday. 7am. That's a relief. I'd rather go early and get it over with, and not be one of the last patients he does for the morning. I struggled with the Pre-op diet over the weekend when I started it. I talked to them yesterday, and they said I can add in Snacks (like sugar free jello) or more Protein, if it will help. They would rather I eat that, than to feel so bad (headache, light headed, naseous, weak) that I reach for a candy bar. Although I'm not a sweets person - I'm more likely to reach for a burger. Anyway, I'm glad I talked to them yesterday because now I'm more optimistic about sticking to the diet. Has anyone found as their surgery date approached that they actually started to dislike food? I've found that it is not bringing me "joy" anymore. It doesn't taste good. The last few days, I would eat something, thinking it would taste great, and it would be so not worth it. Maybe mentally I am preparing myself for the surgery and the future, and starting to change my mentality and way of thinking towards food. Which is a good thing. Hopefully that will make the next couple of weeks easier, as well as the post op. I'm hoping my counselor will be able to help too. I plan to set up at least bi-weekly appointments with him, maybe weekly, that first month after surgery. Anyway, good luck to all the December bandsters! girlygirlz 0 Posted December 18, 2007 Yes I found after the first three to four days that I really did not care about food much. I even found it hard to drink all of my shakes! I have felt this way before on diets (although not in years!) I used to be a great dietier but a lousy maintainer lol! I must admit that on my two week pre-op I went off the Protein Shakes a couple of times when I went out to eat but I always chose low cal super healthy stuff like a salad of baby greens with a plain grilled chicken breast and lite dressing on the side. I lost 13 pounds in two weeks so my substitutions obviously didn't hurt. Good luck to you and I hope hunger doesn't come charging back into our lives!
