gojackets 14 Posted December 30, 2022 I have 5 small incisions from my VSG. For the most part, I wouldn't even know that 4 of them are there - they have caused almost no pain at all. But.... the one where they pulled out my stomach... is crazy bruised and is still very painful 9 days PO. It doesn't hurt all the time, only when I engage my stomach muscles, when I stand up, get out of bed, and OMG the pain when I sneeze. I haven't really seen anyone comment on this. Anyone else have this? To be honest, it's more painful than my c-section incisions were. 1 mzulli reacted to this
Sleeve_Me_Alone 656 Posted December 30, 2022 Yep, I had the exact same experience. I had 4 incisions and the 3 were pretty well healed and painless after the first week or so, but the one was very tender, swollen, and sore for probably an additional 2 weeks. I think that is pretty normal. As long as it isn't hot to the touch, excreting discharge, or showing other signs of infection, it just needs time. 3 gojackets, summerseeker and Sunnyway reacted to this
liveaboard15 1,293 Posted December 30, 2022 yup that one hurt the worst during my recovery and was much more bruised than the others. Took a couple months before it went back to normal. 1 gojackets reacted to this
Voogs 41 Posted December 30, 2022 I ended up with a total of 6 incisions. The lower left was/is the one that still causes a little pain 2 weeks out. The bruising is a site to behold. Finally starting to fade. It does get better as those who have gone before us have said. Best wishes and Happy New Year / New You! 1 gojackets reacted to this
gojackets 14 Posted December 30, 2022 Thank you all for your responses on your experience. I have seen people ask or post about everything but this. If I was the only one, I definitely would have reached out to my Dr. It is getting better, but I still can't sleep any way except on my back and it's driving me crazy. Happy New Year to you all!😚

SuziDavis 546 Posted December 30, 2022 My doctor warned us to expect that. The top left cut was the worst.

I have figured out how to get in and out without too much pain, it just sleeping flat on my back that is annoying. I usually flip and flop all night. stomach, both sides and back. I really like my Dr., but that is something he didn't cover and I didn't think to ask. It's getting better every day, but is still painful.
qtdoll 535 Posted January 1, 2023 Yep, getting out of bed was extremely painful. It felt like my insides were tearing. I did bring it up to my Dr & he was not concerned -at all- I quickly learned yeah, it's part of the healing process for some of us. Sucks, but once that pain starts fading, it fades away fast! 1 gojackets reacted to this
rhaenyra 14 Posted January 2, 2023 Yes, this was the most miserable part for me. I didn't hurt near as bad in any of my other incisions from the surgery, but that one hurt like hell and the pain did not go away for several weeks. It made standing up for any period of time uncomfortable from the tugging at the incision and the general discomfort. It does eventually go away though.. but mine took a lot of time (I think it's even worse if you carry most of your weight in your stomach imo)
_wtfevrr 0 Posted January 2, 2023 Day 18 and that stomach scar still pains me. Doctor said it's normal because they stretched it so much, but when it really pains I get worried.

But then after, there was a significant different in that incision compared to the rest. So I am glad I knew it was OK. 1 gojackets reacted to this
PsychoMantis 9 Posted January 5, 2023 The pain from sneezing or coughing is real. Choked a bit on my own saliva and it hurt. Laughing hurts too. 1 gojackets reacted to this
