YEE HAH!! I got the surgery date!! I was able to get the date I wanted (have to plan, plan, plan). My new birthday is January 24.

:whoo:I can hardly wait! This happens to be my daughters 17th birthday and she is not too happy that I won't be celebrating with her. You know...cake, dinner out and more cake. I told her no cake at the house but she can still go out to dinner with her friends and they can get cake at the resturant. But she is happy that I am getting it done.

I am starting the pre-op this week, just to see how it is. My pre-op diet is not too bad. High Protein (70-100 grams) and low carbs (30 gram). It is really interesting to see how many carbs are actually in ALL the foods we eat, the good stuff too!

Just had to share the great new!!!!!!!!!!:clap2:

Congratulations!!! I know what you mean, I've been on several low carb diets in my life and I was just amazed at how many I consumed on a daily basis. Good luck with your pre-op diet and with your surgery!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
