mlbninja 4 Posted December 21, 2022 I am 2 weeks post op and I got the ok to eat puréed food. So I made scrambled eggs and I chewed and chewed, I think I ate slow, and my tummy feels weird. Not nauseous or pain, just weird. It happened both times I ate eggs yesterday. It’s hard to explain. I cooked 2oz of scrambled eggs and didn’t even eat them all. I don’t know if the feeling is over eating, or eating too fast, or if it’s just not used to food anymore. Has this happened to anyone else. Am I doing something wrong? I don’t want to stretch my ouch or get sick. Idk I might just be paranoid. 1 Jeanniebug reacted to this
aeb10892 3 Posted December 21, 2022 Hey there! I am just over a year post op and I have found that even up to around the 6-8 month mark eggs just didn't sit so well on my stomach anymore. It sounds to me like you are doing all the right things- eating slowly, chewing well, etc- so it really may just be the eggs themselves. Try adding a little milk or Greek yogurt and whisking them very well to scramble, it makes them lighter and fluffier. If that's still giving you problems I found that hard boiled (no yolks just yet, they sit heavy) is a somewhat better texture for me personally. When you try other foods do you have the same feeling? If so, it could just be an adjustment period as your stomach learns to digest again. Some foods definitely take more time than others to re-introduce. For me that included eggs, chicken, beef, nuts, and dark green vegetables like broccoli and spinach (except in smoothies.)

I've found that egg salad or fried eggs sit better in my tummy than scrambled eggs do.
Bettyboop56 33 Posted December 21, 2022 I added milk (dry powdered) to scrambled eggs to keep the moisture in them and add Protein. I didnt eat them until soft food stage. Puree stage everything went through my blender and liquids added to make as runny as applesauce. Meatloaf, curry chicken salad, Jimmy Dean egg fritatta with bacon. 1/4 cup. qtdoll 535 Posted December 21, 2022 So a lot of people experience changes in their food tolerance after surgery & that might just be what you're experiencing. eggs are a common one for people too so don't worry! I would suggest avoiding any foods causing any weird feeling or discomfort & try them again in a later food stage. Your body will keep changing & adapting. Discovering what your body wants during this time is a huge learning process!
Arabesque 7,396 Posted December 22, 2022 eggs can be a problem & some struggle to eat them for varying amounts of time. Your tummy is still healing & can be sensitive to certain, flavours, textures, etc. Give them a break for a week or two & then try them again. You may find this with other foods too as you reintroduce them. And don’t be surprised if you are able to eat something easily one day but the next day your tummy says nope that’s awful. It can be like a petulant tantrum throwing two year old sometimes in the first couple of months.
