Want to get weight loss surgery but am not getting approved

I only recently had elevated cortisol levels and am literally researching Cushings today as I await further testing. There is something called cycling cushings that often leads to delay in diagnosis because the initial test can not pick it up? Just a thought.

Also, have you had your height measured recently? We shrink as we age so you may have a little higher BMI than you think of your doctors are like mine and just use the old measurements for years.

I've been to three and one OBGYN. They don't know. Hormones are normal on every test.

Very slight hirsutism began at 14 (faint hairs on my abdomen). But by 21 I was growing a beard and my body hair was wolf man level. No answers for that or my severe acne which was practically all over my body. They can't figure it out. They say ''genetics'' but not one parent has those kind of characteristic's. Both parents are fair haired, thin people. My Mother only had to shave her legs once a week or longer and I don't ever recall her having facial hair. Both parents are thin too with no history of adolescent or adult acne. A total mystery.

What you are describing sounds like a high androgen level....."High androgen levels lead to symptoms such as body Hair growth, acne, irregular periods -- and weight gain."

Has a doctor ever ordered a glucose tolerance test for you? I have PCOS but with mostly normal ovaries. I was diagnosed by a progressive endocrinologist based on my GTT and other symptoms. My insulin resistance was the cause of much of my inability to lose weight. After I was put on metformin, I was able to lose weight (but, obv, not able to keep it off long term). I saw numerous doctors who told me, "just stop eating so much", until I finally landed on the endocrinologist who was willing to listen. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
