So I'm incredibly disappointed in my progress so far. I was sleeved on March 7th and I've only lost 15 lbs. I know everyone is different and we're not supposed to compare but I'm a little panicked.

Would someone mind sharing how they've done this month after surgery?

I did contact my Nutritionist and asked her how many calories I should be eating a day and she said not to worry about that right now. Just concentrate on getting my Protein and Water in, which I am doing.

I had the bypass on 3/16 and have only lost 16 total. From what I've seen, that's technically low-average for bypass patients with a 300 lb starting weight. I don't really care though because I know it'll come off. I'm meeting my Protein and Water goals and walking 1-2 miles per day. Something's gotta give, you know? I think a lot of us are just primed to hold onto weight until the bottom gives out. But I will say the non-scale victories are something to celebrate! I can sleep through the night now, my high BP has reversed, no more GERD to manage. Hopefully you have some nsv's to look forward to. I made a list of 15 things I look forward to from this surgery that can't be 'found' on a number on a scale. I made the list for this exact scenario - when you feel like you've stalled or get discouraged. If you don't have one, I definitely recommend making one. Hopefully that helps!

I just found my way here. I had my roux en y on March 22. Things are mostly going ok. Last night I took a sip of Water to take a medication (nothing new or different) then a tiny bite of sugar free Jello and suddenly I had so much pressure in the middle of my chest I was scared for a minute that I was having a heart attack. Then my mouth started watering and I really thought I was going to throw up… but all I did was spit out the saliva a couple times and it started to pass. No idea what that was about. Hope it doesn’t happen again. Later I took another med just fine.

Hiya Jenn, I had my bypass on March 10th. today was a good day food wise no pain, (to be fair I'm going well) but at times if I eat too fast or drink too fast oh boy does it hurt. right in themiddle of the chest. and yes the saliva. All normal apparently and will subside in time. I'm just impatient and want it all right now. Hate taking my medication as its a few big tablets............yukkkk

Best of luck.

When you guys are talking about how much weight you've lost, are you including what was lost during the pre-op diet as well, or just strictly what you've lost since surgery day? I've been a bit disappointed. I lost 10 before surgery, and 11 after surgery (3/24/23), which I was very pleased with. Week 1 I was still on Clear Liquids, and this week on full liquids, I actually ended up the exact same weight as last week. Just seems really early to be stalling. I'm trusting the process and sticking to the plan, but man it's discouraging.

You are doing great! This isn't magic and as you've read many times everyone is different. You are still recovery and you just need to be concerned with following your plan and getting your fluids and then Protein. Keep your head up and only weigh once a week. Also remember the lower your BMI the less pounds you are going to loose when comparing yourself (dont) to someone with a much higher BMI. We should be talking about percentages of excess weight instead of pounds/kilos lost. As percentages generally match long term. Increase exercise in small incriminates as you can tolerate and stick to your prescribed diet and you will succeed!

Thank you! After doing a bit of digging through the forums, I see the typical "3 week stall" all over the place. I'll just keep on keeping on and look forward to the results! Thanks again for the reassurance and encouragement!

I am a little frustrated also. I lost around 10lbs before surgery and i have lost about 8-5 more lbs since. I feel like I should be losing more.

I struggle with some things which is part of the process of learning new ways. I think everyone struggles or we wouldn't of ended up here.

My concern is am I struggling to much. I worry I snack to much.

I am taking Iron, a Multivitamin, Calcium, nmn, and an allergy pill daily. I wake up and hydrate myself and take them.

Everything I choose to eat is for the purpose of getting my Protein. Except popsicles. I am always SO thirty.

I am aware it is a new experience and I am learning new things. I am frustrated. But... ok.

I hear you. My surgery was 3/24. I was 199.7 lbs on surgery day. 2 weeks after, I was 188.9. That was my lowest. I've been at 190.3 for the past week, and it hasn't budged AT ALL. I've had no issues with getting my minimum 80g Protein and 64 oz. Water. I've been diligent about eating only every 3-4 hrs as instructed. My calories have never gone over 550 and I walk at about 2.5 mph for anywhere from 30 min - 1 hour 5 days a week. Taking multivitamin with Iron, B-12, Calcium, and stool softener daily. I want to stay off the scale, but in my head, I'm like how long will this last?!?! Does the 3 week stall typically happen around week 3 or does it typically last for 3 weeks? Just ready to see progress again. I wish I had answers for you, but you aren't alone! Hang in there!

I wonder if it is because we started with a lower BMI.

I have wondered the same thing. I didn't expect 20 lb losses every month like I see with some people, but I still expected the scale to move, albeit more slowly!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
