Which Protein Drink?

Recommended Posts

Hi, Ultra geek...

Ive been doing the EAS shakes, that come in the big tub..vanilla flavor. But you might as well call them "ass" flavored because they're gross. I recently just bought, "Body Fortress" From Wal-mart, vanilla, and its pretty yummy.

Where did you buy the new-whey?

babyphat, You are probably lightheaded and weak because you're not getting enough Protein. Id look for a whey Protein based drink/shake, and have about 90g's of protein a day. thats what my dr's advised...

I am using Arbonne Figure 8 Protein Shakes. Had never heard of them prior to the doctors office recommending them. I ordered it from a contact they gave me that was able to get me a 35 % discount because she is a sales representative.

Surprisingly I like them, and I'm a really picky "eater". I mix it with 8oz skim milk. They told me that they taste bad with Water but with milk, I've found they are good.

actually they say not to drink boost and ensure may have high protiens but has to much sugar and fat unless they are sugar and fat free boost and ensure. those kinds of drinks are more for people who are elderly and dont get adequate food intake or people with a tube feeding. try carnation sugar free instant Breakfast its cheaper and what my doctor referred me to have.

I'm planning on using the Isagenix shakes pre and post op. They are part of a program designed for weight loss that I have used before (I lost weight but gained it all back---u know the drill) but anyway I think that the chocolate tastes like a Wendy's frosty and it has 23 grams of Protein per serving. If you add the unflavored Isapro whey protein to the mix it adds another 18 grams per drink so 41 grams total. Not to shabby!!

They also have this liquid Vitamin stuff that tastes god awful (just being honest) Ionix Supreme but it's packed with all kinds of nutrients and is in liquid form so it will work well for me post-op. It's kind of expensive but Unjury is expensive too and since I already know that I like the taste of this stuff I'm going to stick with what I know.

Welcome to Isagenix, World Leader in Nutritional Cleansing if you wanna check it out.

Hi everyone. These Protein Shakes can be really helpful .. but be careful about a couple things. First, the sugar content ... there should be virtually no sugar in your MRP (meal replacement) shake. The sugar is what makes things like slim-fast so freaking bad. So be careful for that. I use EAS Myoplex and it works pretty well for me.

Also, be careful about "quick" Proteins. Proteins like whey are now marketed in quick "watery" variations ... but these variations often will not be absorbed and burned by the body -- they will run straight through.

There are some great body building and training sites out there with a ton of info on this stuff. Just be careful -- people on those forums are pretty hardcore and often frown upon us bandsters. It doesn't bother me because I know it still takes hard work and dedication to get results and reach our goal -- our bands are in no way, shape or form ... "shortcuts."

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
