Thinner Times Forum?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, first time posting, a vet GBS 8 years out, on track for a revision to DS. Last time around I was part of a forum called “Thinner Times”. I see it when I google it but unable to get in. Did this forum cease to exist?

Loving this forum but also wanted to check out a few others!

Thinner Times seems to have gone to a happier place not of this world.

It seems the Forums are closed, there is a Facebook group that appears to have a last post of 5 years ago.

Welcome to this forum which does seem to still exist with fair to midland activity levels.

Good luck,

Tek

wow - didn't know that. I only visited that one sporadically, but it's been years. Didn't realize it'd kicked the bucket.

The board closed a while ago. It never seemed to have much traffic.

With more and more people getting WLS I'd like to know where people are gathering. Considering the amount of people getting WLS places like BP or Reddit don't have much traffic as well.

Not likely all the WLS traffic but Facebook has many many WLS / bariatric groups.

I feel like forums are becoming a thing of the past, at least based on the traffic I’m seeing here and another forum I’m a part of obesityhelp. Thinner Times was THE place to be 8 years ago, it was hopping. This shift to fb groups makes me sad because I really prefer the forum format! I also limit my time on Facebook so it’s not as accessible for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
