I am scheduled to have surgery on November 30th. 9 more days! I am on preop diet and wondering if I can add propel packets to my bottles of Water? Thanks

I was allowed as long as it was caffeine, calorie and sugar free. Anything under 5 calories per serving was considered to be "calorie free".

This is probably a question better suited to your surgeon-- I'm sort of surprised they didn't go over that during your last visit. I was allowed to drink anything sugar free and very low in calories, so Propel would fit (I actually drank almost EXCLUSIVELY Propel after my surgery, in fact, so much I made myself hate it.)

I was able to as long as it is sugar free and I'm allowed to have it after surgery on the liquid diet.< br>

OK so I have a question I can't seem to find anywhere. I have my surgery in March. I was wondering what are thoughts of taking the pre op diet time off. I work retail right now. I can't imagine it helps having to pee all the time. Some suggest work to keep distracted but I'm worried about not having easy access to a bathroom or my boss being bitter I have to go alot. Ideas or what you did would be wonderful. Thanks.

Why would you have to go to the bathroom more than normal?

Does your pre-op require a lot of Water? More than you usually drink?

I really can't imagine this being an issue, but I don't know the details of your diet and pre diet life.

Sometimes the low sugar and the Protein can have a diuretic effect. Sugar causes you to retain Water and they might be shedding some of that.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
