Ok so I might just be weird but at over 100lbs lost I now notice my tailbone when I sit on firm surfaces... like it's uncomfortable! Going to get an xray to make sure one of my overweight falls didn't do damage that I just didn't feel until now but anyone else experience this? It's uncomfortable to drive now, I have to use a pillow.

I've heard that this is a common complaint. They sell special cushions with a tailbone cutout. :)

Oh, wow - I had no idea this was a common complaint! I purchased a pillow months ago, but gosh it still hurts! Sometimes I find the pillow helps, sometimes I feel as though it doesn't.

Yep, bony ass syndrome. Well that’s what I call it 😁😁. It does ease somewhat eventually but if I sit too long (movies, theatre, hairdresser) I feel it again. I even got bony wrists, knees, shoulders & ankle pain for a while - would have to reposition myself in bed numerous times a night & the pressure on my bony wrist while using a mouse was awful . Now I have bony spine pain. I had to buy a very thick foam exercise mat cause my yoga mat offered no protection for my butt or spine.

If you do have to sit for longer periods like at work, the movies, or long car rides, try a donut cushion.

You're not alone. My tailbone has been screaming at me since my pre-op skim milk diet and hasn't stopped screaming. Sitting on the couch isn't comfortable. I need to find a specialized support pillow or something because it hurts pretty bad. I WISH I had some cushion on my rear. Lol

I ended up getting a travel pillow at Walmart for me to sit on when I'm driving. That's when it's the worst. I have leather seats and there's no cushion for my tushy. I sit 85% of the day at work with no issue, so far just in the car.

Yep, I'm in the bony ass syndrome club too. I almost have negative space where my butt once was. There's just nothing there to act as a natural cushion and likewise it's uncomfortable if I sit for too long. I can feel my tailbone now, which I've never been able to do. So I may be investing in a donut cushion in the near future.

I know this is probably TMI but it's like I'm sitting on a terd when I KNOW (being a grown woman and all) that I'm not. Very uncomfortable. I do have a travel pillow that I bought that I keep in my car that adds enough cushion to make driving ok again. It was less then $4 at Walmart and fits my seat perfectly.

I ended up giving in and ordering a tailbone support butt pillow thing from Amazon. It has gel and it's cooling and it has been working for me. I didn't realize the space where the tailbone sits has to be empty/cut out -- I'm glad I looked it up on there. I'm getting a steroid shot tomorrow (or I guess today since it's the am lol) though for the prior inflammation in my tailbone to help chill it out a bit

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
