William101 0 Posted November 15, 2022 So I’m worried today. I was losing weight everyday and now all of a sudden I haven’t lost a lb In 2 days. My wife says this is normal because she had the surgery. I’m getting discouraged but I’m following my dietitians advice.
kcuster83 1,504 Posted November 15, 2022 Stop weighing yourself everyday. Try to cut back to once a week. Everyone fluctuates all the time, I can easily gain 5 lbs in a day and by the next morning it be completely gone plus some. Also, you will experience "stalls" at times. You won't loose weight and may even gain a couple lbs over a week or so. It also will pass. Just stay focused and follow your plan and you will loose weight. Best of luck to you! 4 Arabesque, sillykitty, catwoman7 and 1 other reacted to this
liveaboard15 1,293 Posted November 15, 2022 yup stay off the scale... you will stop loosing weight for a bit throughout the journey. They are called stalls. typically at your 3rd week is where you hit your first one where you probably wont loose any weight for a couple weeks. Just stick to the program and it will come off 1 Arabesque reacted to this
qtdoll 535 Posted November 16, 2022 Agreed on not weighing yourself everyday. This is very normal & checking everyday will only bring on stress (which doesn't help the stall) you WILL eventually start losing again as long as you follow your plan, so might as well just relax & focus on just healing! Things will be okay 1 sillykitty reacted to this

At a week out, you're probably not getting much over 500 calories a day. Logic says that consuming only 500 calories a day, you're going to lose weight whether you want to or not. But, your body is freaking out, right now. It doesn't know what you've done to it. It has to adjust to its current condition and then you will start losing again. Stalls - and even slight weight gains - are a normal and expected part of the process. If you're going to weigh yourself everyday, then you need to come to terms with this fact. The scale is going to go up and down, but the overall trend will be downward. If you're making yourself crazy with it, then switch to once-a-week weigh ins.
