rlmontgomery 1 Posted November 13, 2022 I am 2 years out from gastric sleeve surgery. 100lbs down. Original weight 383 and today 277-281. I have not overstretched my sleeve and I excercise 3-4 times a week. I can break the 277. All of my labs are great. Cholesterol, Glucose, Sodium, Vitamins, blood counts. However, my high blood pressure has returned, I still have GERD and sleep apnea. I am considering a revision to a DS. I know that is a bit extreme, but my BMI is still above a 36. I am a little nervous, but more so because this surgery reroutes my anatomy. also, I don’t know what the recovery looks like for a DS patient that already had a previous sleeve. Any thoughts on all of this would be greatly appreciated.
GreenTealael 25,430 Posted November 13, 2022 If you have any indications of GERD a surgery will likely not suggest DS but RNY. Before you go that route, have you asked your team what else can be done? Ask about other (nutritionist, pharmacological) options. 1 Tomo reacted to this
Scorpio_Qveen_21 2 Posted November 22, 2022 I had gerd & was able to get the conversion from sleeve to DS. My surgery was November 18, 2022. I had 2 bouts of acids reflux the night of surgery but nothing since. Also, my surgeon prescribed Protonix to be taken daily for 3 months even if I don’t have any reflux issues. As far as recovery…. My stomach is still bloated from all the air they pumped in me prior to surgery. I also had my gallbladder taken out as well, so my stomach is a bit sore. sleeping with a pillow pressed against my stomach helps me sleep really well. I’m able to get in my Protein & Water with no issues thus far. My body is tired, but I feel pretty good overall. 1 JohnGraySmiley reacted to this
