dejakrohn 0 Posted November 9, 2022 Hey y’all! I’m here in Kentucky and ready to get my sleeve on 11/15! I was just curious if any of y’all had to go through the dreadful Covid testing before surgery? My dr hasn’t informed me of anything but I was wondering if anyone out there had to do it? Thanks !!! NP_WIP 274 Posted November 9, 2022 I have surgery on 11/22. My surgeon in FL does require it even though it is not mandated, but he takes that extra precaution.Sent from my SM-G960U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
rhaenyra 14 Posted November 9, 2022 Yes. I just had my surgery October 20th and I was required to get a COVID test both for my endoscopy prior to my sleeve and then another COVID test right before my procedure.
Leo segovia 54 Posted November 9, 2022 Yes I did my covid test 2 day prior to my surgery.

Tomo 1,195 Posted November 9, 2022 Yeah but I was allowed to go through a quick drive thru at the local pharmacy. It takes a minute and doesn't hurt at all since they are no longer deep nasal.
kcuster83 1,504 Posted November 9, 2022 Yes. I had to have the "full" test a few days before and then the day of surgery at the hospital they also did a rapid test.
pintsizedmallrat 473 Posted November 9, 2022 Probably...but look at this way, IF you got it, you could cough so hard you could do permanent, serious damage to your abdomen. It's better to be safe than sorry. I've had it twice and the first time was in Feb 2020 when there was no vaccine and I was coughing so hard I was making myself throw up and pee my pants. Believe me, you do not want to be coughing like that with fresh incisions inside and out. 1 Tomo reacted to this
SleeveToBypass2023 2,673 Posted November 9, 2022 Weird, I didn't have to do it. I live in Colorado and they were fine with not doing it.
SuziDavis 546 Posted November 9, 2022 Yup and it was the first time I had the one that feels like they are sampling your brain. 😂 I had covid a couple of weeks prior and was told that even though I am better, I might still test positive, I was freaking out. Cee Cee 3 3 Posted November 9, 2022 Yes. The hospital scheduled it 2 days prior to my surgery.
AboutDangTime 34 Posted November 10, 2022 I had mine on 11/2 and they didn't require any covid testing for mine. Interesting how it's all over the map though.
redhead_che 824 Posted November 10, 2022 Surgery in MO and no covid test required.
Tuli Rose 4 Posted November 11, 2022 The surgery center I went to only required a test if your BMI was over 40. Not sure the reasoning behind that, but I was thankful I did not end up needing to get one,
qtdoll 535 Posted November 11, 2022 Yep, covid test & a pregnancy test. if it means anything, the last few I've gotten have been WAY less miserable than the 2020 tests when it felt like they swabbed your brain lol. It seems they figured out they dont have to go up that far
