I was told I could take anything except NSAIDS. You could always verify with your surgeon to be sure.

Hope you feel better soon.

I have been taking the Uqora line of products. They have D-mannose in them. Both my urologist & naturopath recommend that I take that. I keep having asymptomatic EColi. They won’t treat it because I have no symptoms & it is antibiotic resistant. If they do treat it I have to be in the hospital & get a pic line because I am allergic to so many antibiotics.
Uqora has a Facebook group. They are very helpful, you should check it out.

antibiotics aren't a problem. NSAIDs (and extended release versions of drugs) are the only things I know of that bypassers supposed to avoid.

You can also take straight D-Mannose. It works really well.

I started having UTI problems a few months after my surgery. Started buying D-Mannose at Walmart and taking it daily. Haven't had problems since -- highly recommend.

Naturally, cranberry is good for your urinary tract. Obviously cranberry juice isn't going to work after surgery but they have cranberry supplements you could look into.

I only need to take a few doses when it “feels” like I’m going to have a UTI and it’s gone. I haven’t had a full blown UTI in years since I’ve started using D-mannose.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
