TinDE 83 Posted October 30, 2022 Had a brachioplasty, thigh lift, lower body lift with fleur de lis. I’m in ace bandages and abdominal binder until I get drains removed. Ace bandages on arms and thighs. Any tips on keeping the them up? I’m rewrapping constantly and really not getting any compression, which defeats the purpose. Thank you! T. I’m rewrapping constantly and really not getting any compression, which defeats the purpose. Thank you! T. Don't have any experience with plastic surgery, but I've worn compression bandages enough for other things. Here are my thoughts: You may need more wraps than you think? I've worn one on my knee a lot (post knee replacement), and I would never use just one. I'd often use 2 or 3 on just my knee. If it's slipping, it may need to be tighter? Obviously not too tight, but unless you're moving a lot (which I suspect not immediately post surgery), it shouldn't just slip off while you're still. It may not make a ton of difference, but I found that starting at the top and working my way down the limb seems to help as well. Make sure to wrap it several times around the top before moving down. If you think it's tight enough, but it's still slipping, you may have to "fix" it in place by wrapping it around other body parts. For example, maybe try starting the ones for your arms by wrapping your shoulder first, then moving down the arm. Refer to point one above though. This will absolutely take extra wraps. If none of the above helps, you could also consider using some cohesive wrap to hold it in place? Be a bit careful if you go this route though. Cohesive wrap doesn't give like the compression bandage, so it would be easier to cut off your circulation. Hope you find something that works for you. TinDE 83 Posted October 30, 2022 Thank you for the tips! I’ll try some of them out!
ShoppGirl 5,003 Posted October 30, 2022 (edited) Maybe ask if you can use something like this. I knew I had seen ace bandages made out of different materials than cotton that looked less slippery. I’ve never tried these but it does say “non slip”?? Supra-Grip Elastic Bandage, 4" x 5.5 Yds, Pack of 10, Hook and Loop Closure, Non-Sterile, Washable and Resuable, Non-Slip Compression and Support https://a.co/d/4yjONhY Edited October 30, 2022 by ShoppGirl

Much better than the old-school ones with the little clips.

Yea those clips are so annoying. I THINK they are a different material too with some rubber or something that makes one layer sorta stick to the next layer. I don’t think it’s rubber but something like it.
TinDE 83 Posted October 30, 2022 Thank you! Those are similar to what I have. Velcro, not clips. These do look like they may have some rubber or something on them which may help with slippage. Thanks for the links!

If I were you I’d just ask your doctor if they are okay first and hopefully they will know what to type in to find them because I know you don’t really need 10 of them but I didn’t know what to call it other than non slip. TheRealMeIsHere! 863 Posted October 31, 2022 They do make compression sleeves. Is there a reason that the surgeon doesn't want you to use those? Though I have no experience with them, they may not stay put either 🤷🏻♀️ There's also Coban wrap and another similar product but can't remember the name. There are videos on how to use it for compression. Just make sure it's ok to use in your case
TinDE 83 Posted October 31, 2022 (edited) Thank you! I will look into the compression sleeves also. The first week was such a blur I don’t even know if I thought it through. He said just ace until drains are out but, just a sleeve should be okay since it won’t affect any drains. I’ll check. Let’s hope some of these 7 drains come out Friday. 🤞🏻 Edited October 31, 2022 by TinDE Hit Weird emoji
blackcatsandbaddecisions 852 Posted November 4, 2022 I recommend strongly looking into Marena brand compression garments when you get drains out…it was a lifesaver for me. And let me know how the thigh lift goes when you get a bit further out, I’m interested in that! 1 TinDE reacted to this
