SashaS 0 Posted October 29, 2022 Hello! My name is Sasha. I was sleeved in 2016 and since my surgeon has retired. I lost my binder moving states and I need some help. Are we allowed to take antibiotics? I am suffering from a UTI and have been taking Uricalm. It’s helping but I might go to urgent care today. I’m so cautious trying new meds without a bariatric surgeon telling me it’s okay. Please let me know your experiences with antibiotics post surgery! Thank you! ShoppGirl 5,023 Posted October 29, 2022 I don’t THINK you should have any issues with any antibiotics? I believe it’s just NSAID’s that we are supposed to avoid but you can always ask is that okay with my surgery when they write the script just to be certain. liveaboard15 1,293 Posted October 29, 2022 Your doctor, primary care or urgent care tho would be the ones to give you a good yes or no but i was never told to avoid antibiotics. Its pain killers typically like motrin (NSAIDS) are things we should be avoiding more so for gastric bypass people. 1 SashaS reacted to this
qtdoll 535 Posted October 29, 2022 My doctor approved for me to go back to Doxycycline (antibiotic for a skin condition) yesterday & I'm 1 month post op. I'm no Dr but I assume you'll be fine as well!
Arabesque 7,426 Posted October 30, 2022 Wasn’t told to avoid antibiotics either. Just make sure your prescribing doctor knows about your sleeve & any malabsorption issues you may have (not that its a real issue with a sleeve). 1 Tomo reacted to this
