Plastic surgeon in Houston TX?

Recommended Posts

I'm 12 years post op and we are just now in a position to consider plastic surgery for skin removal. We live in Houston, TX and I am very overwhelmed looking at plastic surgeons and would love to hear if anyone has a recommendation. Thanks so much!!

I don’t have any recommendations for a specific doctor but maybe consider narrowing it down by ones that have a lot of experience working with weight loss patients?? Maybe ask them how many times they have performed that surgery on someone like you?

Thank you—I’ve been trying to tell from their web sites....I asked in local groups but most people have had breasts or other types—not skin removals.... so I don’t know how much stock to put in their recommendations.

If you are still a patient at your WL clinic they may be able to refer you to someone they are familiar with.

Great idea. And Even of you aren’t still going there routinely I bet they would give you a name and number. Especially as a former patient.

I definitely would go for the one with more practice with your particular surgery. I had a melanoma removed by an excellent boob guy and was very dissatisfied with what he did for me.

I had my surgery done 12 years ago in Birmingham AL. I called the clinic a couple years ago and they did not find my records. I could call them though and see if they can just share a recommendation if they know anyone in this area. Thanks!!

Ooh if it’s in another state they may not know anyone (but still worth a shot). You could also try a local weight loss surgery clinic that is reputable. I’m guessing they would be willing to share a name if you ask nicely. At least then you will have a couple names of people with experience with the surgery you want and then you can do your research from there.

That's an excellent idea. I just ran a search and there are a lot of surgeons it appears in the area--I will make some phone calls. Thanks!!

Dr. Christopher Patronella is very good. He did my full body lift a few years ago. He is a great surgeon.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
