FlossBoss 0 Posted November 9, 2022 This has been a concern of mine as well. My reflux is controlled with panteprazole (pre-surgery) but the reflux is what pushed me to do this in the first place. I have talked to my surgeon about this and he seems confident this won’t be an issue for me. He will correct a hiatal hernia if he sees one during the surgery. I had a PCP tell me once I had a hernia but it has never been scoped and never been flagged on an chest CTs I have had for other reasons. Sounds like I’ll be staying on the panteprazole for awhile I guess. I hate that pain.

Even with all that, when it flared up it was unbearable. Basically vomiting acid! So bad my voice would be hoarse for days after. Anyway, I had bypass and it 100% resolved it. No meds, no tums, no signs of any acid reflux related issues at all!
Nik77 6 Posted November 10, 2022 I had sleeve.. so far not more issues with reflux.. some minor experiences which I suppose is to be expected but still taking propantazole for another 2 weeks.. surgeon said he want concerned at this rage and will re assess is 3 months but to call him if I am concerned.. so glad you have been able to fix your reflux with the bypass!! I’m hoping I don’t get any more experience of it but I guess it’s a major change to my gastric function so to be expected at times.
redhead_che 824 Posted November 10, 2022 I was revised to bypass because I developed GERD after sleeve. Fun times. 🤦♀️ It’s super common unfortunately.
