Perth Girl

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I am new here. i am due to be banded in Jan:clap2:

It was a really quick decision for me. My G.P recommended in in November, went to surgeon in early December, now a date booked for op.

I am nervous and also very excited. I have a little boy and I want to be around to watch him grow up, I am sick of being the fat girl. My husband is normal weight and has never seen me as anything more than beautiful, he is apprehensive about me getting the op.

I am a bit all ove the place. I am looking to make friends. i am in perth:cool:

Hey Min - my GP recommended Dr Watson, and he has been great for me. Initially I thought his bedside manner was a little strange, but now I think he is excellent.

I had no problems whatsoever with the banding - I didn't even get bad wind problems as a lot of people seem to get.

Although I did have a bit of a bad patch after my first fill, but we have discovered that it has nothing to do with my band, so that was great news.

I actually stayed two nights in hospital, I have three children at home and I was really frightened that they may jump on me and hurt my incisions, so Dr Watson said to stay another night to make sure everything was fine when I went home, and it was.

Have you been banded or are you waiting to be banded?

Cheers - Rastis

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
