I don’t think the insurance can deny you for that. The doctor may want you to stay off of it before surgery and retest though if that is something that interferes with recovery??

CBD is a cannabinoid - cannabinoid is the name of the group of chemicals/compounds found in pot. THC, the compound that makes you feel "high" is also a cannabinoid. No, the tests cannot tell what the source is. However, if they are CBD only gummies, then you should not have tested positive for THC and therefore it really should not matter. In fact, it probably won't matter regardless of whether of not you had THC, except that they will likely tell you to refrain for at least 2 weeks pre-op as it can interfere with anesthesia.

From what my surgeon told me, if you test positive for anything associated with a drug (nicotine, thc, cannabinoids, hard drugs, alcohol, etc) then the surgery is postponed until you can pee completely clean.

Unfortunately, they can not tell what the source is nor do they care. It is a straightforward positive or negative test for THC. Many of the cbd products have a small percentage of THC ( eg. 0.3%). Can contact your Gummy manufacturer and ask them the percentage. Unfortunately, these supplements like all the others are not monitored by FDA so who knows what the real percentage is. Perhaps talk to your doctor and let him know that you are taking these gummies as a sleep aid, and he may waive it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
