Congratulations on your date! Sending positive thoughts for a smooth, successful surgery and recovery. I have an upper endoscopy on Wednesday, when my surgeon will look at my hiatal hernia and ulcer which he will fix during my RYN when it is scheduled. But, he will cut some polyps off on Thursday so I will be on a liquid diet Thursday and Greek yogurt for two weeks afterward so I feel you. You have a scheduled date! That's exciting!

I don't start mine until the day after Thanksgiving 11/25/22. My doctor's plan seemed to be a bit different than some that I have seen on here. He only requires 1 week. I've already cut back on so much though. How's it going for you?

I'm also on Dec 1! Are you on a liquid diet or some other type for your pre-op? I am doing Meal Replacements and feel very lucky for that.

No, I didn't have to do any type of pre op diet other than to change habits.

It’s going good. I’m trying to have different flavored shakes and broths each day. Four days in and ten more to go.

Met with the surgeon for the final time prior to surgery on Dec 5th. I start liquid diet 10 days prior. SO I will be enjoying a small slice of pecan pie in Thursday. The liquid side consists of a combination of Soups (tomato & cream of types) thinned. broth , Protein Shakes, assorted sugar free jellos (like the green), popsicles, pudding and yogurts and such. The only admonishment is Clear Liquids the day before surgery. It will be the same diet after surgery until advised to proceed to the next step. Obviously this is my teams directions, Your team will probably have their own requirements. Best bet is to follow them. After all, that's why we're paying them the big bucks.

Well wishes and prayers to all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
