Boredom is my enemy

Recommended Posts

My job has its ups and downs. Right before the 1st and the 15th of every month, our office is a madhouse of activity and it's all I can do to keep afloat. But in the intervening periods there are always a few days of absolute, deadly BOREDOM.

So what do I do? Nibble. I just nibbled my way through the entire middle of my ham-and-brie sandwich, PLUS half of the french-bread roll!! It's easy to eat if you nibble.

COME ON, PHONE, RING!!! Save me from myself!!

What do you do when there's nothing to do and you're trapped?

I know what you mean about boredom, that was a biggy for me too. How about cleaning out your desk or something like that to pass the time by? I am still young in this journey but I didn't realize you would be able to eat sandwiches, let alone french rolls? I am dying for bread!! I didn't think it would be a possibility anymore after the banding, does it go down okay?

Misty, normally I wouldn't have eaten the bread for lunch; I almost never take more than a bite of it. But when it's possible to sit for an hour and nibble, sure, bread can go down. :rolleyes The bread in question was a very dark multi-grain baguette type of bread, so it took a lot of chewing in the first place. And with all this empty time to fill it was too tempting!

Hell, it isn't that I have nothing to do; there's ALWAYS something to do. But it's too darned quiet. I'm a multi-tasker and cleaning out my desk is NOT an option! ;):):D

I always come on here and post, balace my checkbook, browse on the computer, pay bills, or find a book to glance through. Although usually there isn't any spare time for me! Sometimes I make out a grocery list so that I have something in my hand at the store.

I have a very boring job, so I find myself often on LBT posting meaningless dribble, LOL! I am also researching everything I can about home building. And, I am an avid gardner so I am ALL OVER Gardenweb. If there is one thing I do really well, it's research on the internet. Gosh, one of these days I'll probably get reprimanded for constantly being on-line, but who cares, LOL!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
