I am a little over 3 weeks out of the sleeve and I am worried that my serving sizes are two big. Should I be able to eat two over easy eggs this early without an issue? I am losing weight. I just don't want to make myself sick. I am in the soft food stage.

Best check with your surgeon & dietician because plans have different requirements. Plus we can only do what we can do within those guidelines.

I was advised only 1/4 - 1/3 cup to begin slowly increasing to a cup over time but that was my plan. I remember it took me three days to eat two scrambled eggs for months. At about 8 months I could eat one egg. That was all I could do. I was able to eat two scrambled eggs for the first time last weekend & I’m more than 3 yrs post surgery.

I will echo what @Arabesquesaid. Everyone is different and you should refer to your surgeon / dietitian. I'm 8 months out and still can't finish two scrambled egged (eggs + a splash of milk) for Breakfast. No issues with hard-boiled eggs tho. I had the MGB.

I'm with you and can eat more then I think I should. I can eat 1 scrambled egg and 1.5 ounces of chorizo. I'm also starting my 3rd week after surgery. I honestly can't feel my stomach getting full and someone elses post made sense to me that a lot of our nerves have been cut so maybe as we heal more we'll be able to feel that full feeling before we eat to much. I was never given any size or calorie advice from my bariatric team so its a really hard thing to judge.

I was able to eat more than expected at every given stage. Now at over a year snd a half out I am “satisfied” with about a serving of most things but all along I have had to measure my food out because if I eat to feel full I will eat more than I should. My team says this is rare and it’s more likely it’s cut nerves and you will feel your restriction soon but even if not, it can be done you just have to measure things.

That's going to be highly individualized. I'm 13 months post op and I'm not sure I could eat two eggs in one sitting.

I spoke with my nutritionist, and he looked over my tracking and was fine with it. I will say though I am not able to eat much today. I am glad I had him look it over because he did recommend one thing off topic.

My nutritionist was okay with it. I know most average about 5-600 calories now, but I can get up to 7-800. He said that the goal for me by month six is 1200. I don't know if that is going to be possible, but he wasn't too worried.

Glad you got some reassurance OP. We do torture ourselves with this stuff. Bottom line - if you stick with the programme you've been given you *will* lose weight. Best of luck.

FWIW at almost 11 months post sleeve I can eat one egg easily, and have been able to from early on. I might fit in one and a half if I wanted to push it for whatever reason but I definitely couldn't do two without discomfort. We're all different though and early on you don't get the full benefit of your restriction because of the cut nerves. Stick it out, you'll be absolutely fine.

I'm am on liquids and will be transitioning to soft foods next week. I find that I can eat( drink )quit a good amount . I'm consuming 900-1100 cal a day. What are your guidelines for amount size of meals. I know being liquids it flows fast past stomach. I'm having my month post-op appointment on Wednesday.

I just saw a video about this! The doctor explains that some people just have the 'tube' part of stomach bigger than others. Some have longer & wider ones. I attached a screenshot of a drawing he made showing how 2 different sleeves can look & why some can eat more than others Screenshot_20221011-231223.jpg

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
