Still getting ill...

Recommended Posts

I'm nearly 2 years post op (bypass) and most foods still make me ill after only a couple of bites. I take small bites, eat slowly etc., not heavy/ greasy food, but yeah. Most food makes me a bit sick and I'm so over it. Like, it's a struggle to remain over 115lbs, which is crazy! (I still have a bunch of skin removal to go too, at least 5lbs worth and my weight ranges between 117 and 125.) I'm putting a call in to my doctor because it just seems a bit weird that I'm still getting nauseated so very often. Keeps me skinny I guess. *sigh* 😓 Anyone else have this issue?

At almost 4 years out I started to get nauseous for no reason. I have been like this since Feb. it’s not food. I really can’t figure out what it is & neither can any Dr including my surgeon.
He did an EDG a couple weeks ago & didn’t see anything wrong.
some days I’m good & somedays, like today, I’m bad!
I have been to my PCP, gastrointestinal, urologist, naturopath & my surgeon. Who else can I try?

I’m so sorry that either of you are going through this. If I were in your position I would go to a place like Cleveland clinic or mayo or one of those places that the specialties really do work together to get to the bottom of things. My husband went and he seen like 6 or 8 doctors within two days And they did several scans and a crazy amount of labs. I really do hope you figure out what’s going on really soon.

I was thinking the same thing. Best of luck to you both.

Yeah, speak to ur doc…if there is something you need to be worried about, he’ll let u know.

I’m 4 years out, i dont eat much at one sitting (compared to “normal” people) or i’ll feel icky and or sick or barf. I also dont eat very fast, not eat alot of sugar at once nor on an empty stomach…cuz yeah, i’ll feel icky or sick or barf..in the case of too much sugar, add in racing heart, lethargy, headaches, the runs…

If you are down with tracking, try finding a pattern to the sick feelings and what/how fast/when you are eating. You may find the culprit or at least learn what YOUR limits are.

Good Luck! ❤️

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
