So yesterday was a pretty off day for myself. I’m 15 days post opt from gastric bypass and been doing ok so far . The pain comes and goes and there are days where it feels like I can actually fill my incisions. Been on the soft purée food , applesauce cream of wheat I tried smushed green Beans with Tilapia and mashed potatoes.. went down ok i honesty severe 3 ounces but only I take about 1 1/2 oz trying little by little . Also tried scrambled eggs but it was a no go to eat without being able to wash it down with a drink . :( But I have to say that I think I got frustrated or not sure I just began crying and crying and not benign sure why … and I told my wife that eating now seems like a chore and not really have the get up and do it feeling … I know it’s temp but it worries me and makes me sad but I’m taking it as well it just yesterday todays is a new day !!! Hope everyone has a great weekend 😀

This too shall pass. It might pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass.

About 7-8 weeks in, you will wake up feeling absolutely wonderful, you really will. Now a year later, I kind of miss the not hungry feeling.

Hugs… I have heard there are hormone fluctuations as your body adjusts after surgery…. I hope you find some calm

I think the hormonal fluctuations are contributing a lot to how you are feeling. Tears, anger, frustration,… you can run the whole gamut. Things you would usually be able to handle with little or no issue, like the change of diet & re learning how to eat & what you can tolerate while you are healing, become all too much.

It does get easier.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
