ChelleH 2 Posted September 23, 2022 I’m a vegetarian in the preop phase of surgery. I had my consultation yesterday and was able to check off everything required prior to surgery (cardiologist, upper G.I., sleep study, etc.) except the nutritionist appointments and preop lab work. I wanted to ask if anyone was vegetarian or vegan postop and how well you’re doing with it. Also, please feel free to share any recipes or tips! 1 Tomo reacted to this
SuziDavis 546 Posted September 23, 2022 Hi, I am not 100% vegan or anything, but I do prefer plant based as much as possible. It can be a little more challenging to get your Protein in. I have been using a good Protein Powder though and it helps. Just start planning now. This is the Protein I use BTW https://1stphorm.com/collections/protein/products/vegan-power-pro 1 ChelleH reacted to this
ChelleH 2 Posted September 23, 2022 Awesome! I know it will be more challenging, but I’m up for it. Thank you for the Protein powder suggestion!! 1 SuziDavis reacted to this
Tomo 1,194 Posted September 23, 2022 Not vegetarian but the majority of my diet are fruits and vegetables (7 - 14 servings per day). My diet is 50% to 60% carbs. Beans and lentils are great from the beginning (i e. pureed stage and after), tofu as well (soft at first, then firm). I love Tofu and vegetable stir-fry dishes or Soups. Anything soybean helps a lot with Protein. There is always vegan protein powder too. 1 ChelleH reacted to this
Momsaysimaoops 28 Posted September 24, 2022 You can find great clear vegan Proteins that you can add to your Water. I've not had surgery yet but I am focusing on getting my required Protein in and making it a habit before surgery. I have a caseine allergy so most normal protein powders are a no go. They also have an unflavored option that I add to my water and its great. hydration + protein with no taste or much change to viscosity. 1 ChelleH reacted to this
