heatherdbby 70 Posted September 22, 2022 So, I had a busy morning, and I left my shaker cup on the counter between meetings and when I looked at it probably two hours later to take it and clean it, the drops of Optifast in the shaker had some green spores on it.. Any one else?
Nepenthe44 188 Posted September 22, 2022 Protein Shakes in general are basically bacterial growth media with flavoring, so that's not unusual. (Once the growth really gets going, there's nothing I've found that gets the smell out. Buy extra bottles if you're forgetful and don't clean them out quickly every time.) 2 hours is a little fast though. And I don't remember anything liking Optifast. 1 SuziDavis reacted to this

heatherdbby 70 Posted September 27, 2022 yeah I am really not a fan of the Optifast stuff. I don't know why doctors make us use this stuff, because i truly am questioning what is in it.

I don't know why doctors make us use this stuff, because i truly am questioning what is in it. It's more like human growth media than bacterial growth media in intent. It's designed to be nutritionally complete; most of the ingredients are either essential nutrients (vitamins, minerals, Protein, Omega 3 fatty acids, etc.) or stuff to make it work as a powdered "drink" (anti caking agents and emulsifiers). But it's an entirely artificial reconstruction of food, not food. Add in artificial sweeteners, flavors, and coloring agents and you have the grossest stuff imaginable. I have to think that Nestlé gives kickbacks or other perks to doctors who use it.
