And I cant wait. Yep that sounds wierd that I cant wait to go and get stuck with a needle. Maybe I am becoming a fill addict:omg::omg:

Maybe i can start a new support group called Fill-anon.

Way to go Dave!! My doc uses flouro so it takes longer then 10 min, most is about 1 hour.

I may try that one time, just to SEE the band at work. LOL

Hey Dave - I kind of compare myself to you because we were banded at the same time and seem to be on the same track.

Do you attribute the majority of your success to just being really disciplined (which I know you are!!!) or do you think your fill/restriction level has had a lot to do with it?

Your doctor seems to be VERY aggressive with fills and my doctor is the opposite. I'm still only at 2cc's in my 10cc AP Band with NO restriction.

Does your doctor just fill you each time as a routine to keep up the weight loss or do you go in and request a fill because you feel you need it?

Usually my restriction only lasts a few days. I have become very aware of what I eat and how much. Maybe too much though. I still have my weak times, just like others. My dr just checks my weight loss and then asks me if I want a fill. This last one was only 1cc, since the loss is still going good. I have only had one PB and dont want to repeat it. I see you are doing real good with your loss too. I would ask your dr for a larger fill, just to keep all of your good work from coming to a stop....Dave

I'm going this afternoon for my 3rd fill. I have a little over 5ccs in my 14 cc band. I definitely felt more restriction after my 2nd fill. Lately I've been HUNGRY! Sunday I ate a ton of food at dinner - 3 raviolis, 2 meatballs, sausage, bracciol (sp?), provolone cheese....and I didn't feel full. Other days I get stuck. Wierd how this band works.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
