Sugar free situation!!

Recommended Posts

Ok ladies and gents. I am 1 month and 6 days post op from my bypass surgery and my biggest obstacle is getting my Protein in. I buy the packs with the cubed meats, cashews and cheese (I am sick of cheese LOL) I am really at this point considering going back to be a pescatarian because those are the items that feel better going down. Non of that scratching, painful feeling I get with chicken or sausage. Now to the point, I am very allergic to artificial sweetners, sugar alcohol and Stevia so is there a simple protein powder shake I can take that does not have any of that (oh and plant based *no whey*)?

GENEPRO unflavored protein powder in the silver bag was perfect, but GNC stopped selling it and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Any suggestions????

Have you ever tried the GNC Lean shake? It has 30g Protein and 170 calories

I really liked turkey meatballs at that stage. You can do homemade ones (which might be preferable, you absolutely can make them without breadcrumbs in them for NO carbs), or you can buy them in a bag but get quality ones that aren't all filler. An advantage to making your own is you can control how they're seasoned (I made "gyro seasoned" ones and dipped them in tzaziki sauce, for a dollop of extra Protein because it was made with greek yogurt...they were actually really good cold in a packed lunch, even). You could do ground chicken with taco seasoning and dip them in salsa. Endless possibilities.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
